I had oral surgery 10 days ago to have an infected tooth (previously root canaled) extracted. The bone was infected around the tooth and the doctor did his best to clean out all the dead bone tissue. I have been on augmentin for almost a month to fight the infection.

I went back to the oral surgeon a few days ago and he said things are healing nicely. All of my lyme symptoms returned after the surgery and now I have some new symptoms.

I am having sporadic, shooting pains in my head that cause my tinnitus to change as they occur. I also have strange bug crawling/tingling sensations in my face and all around my skull. It also feels as though there is a thick fluid slowly moving around in my skull and ears.

There may still be some bacterial fluid draining into my mouth from a fistula that had formed in the roof of my mouth - or possibly from the extraction site itself. (it leaves a greenish residue on my tongue)

The pathology report has not yet come in that the oral surgeon ordered. I am concerned that I have loss of bone and continued infection in my jaw and auditory canal due to lyme or a tick born illness. Has anyone here had a similar experience?

I can't speak to the questions you pose, I just don't have the brain power to ponder.

However, the physcial stress of the procedure can cause quite some reactions for a while. The body, especially the neck and jaw are put in some very forceful positions for quite some time and that is always a real stretch that can have after-effects for some time.

A massage might be of great help, or cranial-sacral therapy (NO TWISTING OF NECK, though) such as the UPLEDGER technique (just Google).

And, if the anesthesia or anesthetic contained epinephrine that can explain some things. By chance, did you request they use a numbing agent with "No EPI"?

It likely won't cause harm but can be rather excitatory.

MAGNESIUM seems a very good thing to keep up for many of your symtpoms, along with anti-infective measures. Bone growth and repair requires magnesium, too. I think one reason bone loss can happen with lyme is not just from infetion but from the magnesium (and other nutrient) deficiency.

Auromere makes a very nice mouthwash without alcohol or other junk. Also does not burn.

SEA BUCKTHORN OIL is what I suggest for the possible fistula at the roof of your mouth, along with what your doctor recommends of course.

That, and other soothing items for various mouth issues are linked here:

I would try 2-3 drops of Tea Tree Oil in 6-8 oz of lukewarm water. Rinse your mouth with it several times, spitting it out each time. Do this 3x per day, every day.

It should make a difference, as Tea Tree Oil is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal agent.

A good book is "The Australian Tea Tree Oil Handbook". I got it from Amazon (inexpensive), but check your local library or used bookstore.

I have not experienced what you have - just trying to help you with this suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone. I will look into both the Tea Tree Oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil. I have doubled my dosage of magnesium and I have added some systemic enzymes into my regimen.
I have also been rubbing arnica on my sore jaw.

I actually did very well with the anesthesia. I felt better on the day of the surgery than any day I have had in a long time! It must have been something in the IV sedation...

Keebler, that is an interesting post you shared. Most of my strange sensations are along the part of my face that is affected by the trigeminal nerve. I think I have 'atypical trigeminal neuralgia' by the description in that link.

It makes sense that the nerves might be affected there after the trauma of surgery and bone debridement. Hopefully, that is all it is. Thanks again.

Dbpei, the bug crawling sensation left on me recently after using some parasite herbs.

I would use arnica and vitamin A and C for you to heal and restore collagen. Also try and get some sun (the best D3). Sleep will really help you heal (try going to bed earlier--I know this is tough with the full moon).

I would also load up on antioxidants, enzymes and minerals since lyme and company steal them from us. You need these right now. Also, ondamed is great for healing. It pinpoints and identifies areas of inflammation in our bodies and opens up the cells to work properly again. It also gets rid of tinnitus (very cool). :)

thanks for the reminders, catgirl. I had checked into purchasing the Sota magnetic pulser to help my tinnitus a while back and learned by the distributor that I should not use it near my mouth because I have a titanium dental implant and still have metal fillings.

I was bummed about this because it has many healing properties, as the ondamed does. I will try to contact Ondamed and find out if there are any contraindications like this with it.

Which parasite herbs were you using that helped?

I mixed them so I'm not sure which did it (combo maybe). One day I took humaworm, the next hanna kroeger.

Oil pulling might help.
