Good reminder Lax!
EVERYONE: ALWAYS get copies of your lab results, as well as results from x-rays, CT scans, U/S, MRIs, biopsies, etc. etc.
Organize them in binders by year. When you go to a new doc, take your binders with you, and the new doc can make copies of your results if need be.
DO NOT accept any explanations that you cannot obtain copies of your results. They are YOURS and you are entitled to them!
You can easily obtain your medical records from hospitals by filling out their form and faxing it/sending it to them via snail mail.
As for medical records from doctor's offices, they all seem to have their own policies....from automatically sending you your results via email, snail mail or fax, to just giving you copies during an office visit, to making you fill out detailed forms every time you request your records (which to me is ridiculous but that's another story).
You MUST be in control of maintaining your own medical records! And ALWAYS look through your results! This will help you formulate questions for the next doc visit, not to mention that results sometimes do slip through the cracks until they're addressed by patients.
