Now I'm wondering if i did the right thing! there's a big gap there now - it was a molar on the lower left....

in my mind, i associated my back sliding symptomology with that tooth, the dentist convinced me 3 years ago that it needed a crown because of enamel erosion...the crown never let me ignore the tooth...altho i had another crown in my mouth with no problems....so they talked me into a root canal....

well for the last few months, i felt like i'm getting worse with pain and sleep and soreness and all that and the tooth still buzzed on occasion, almost every day but not for long...still i decided that the tooth should go...so it went today...

but i thought i had asked all the appropriate questions until the dentist after the extraction said if necessary we can do an implant or a bridge - and then tells me that a bridge means putting crowns on the teeth adjacent to the gap where the molar was!!!! WHAT? i guess i didn't ask enough questions! the crown on this tooth was what started this process....i was fine and getting better with Lyme symptoms before the crown

i hope and pray the Lyme pain and symptoms go away...because i might have been able to live with the occasional buzzing from that tooth...

It probably released a lot of toxins and bacteria when being removed. Things got stirred around!

Be sure to up your supplements to detox.

Sometimes you can leave an "empty place" after tooth extraction. My husband did. Google is your friend!

Do what tutu said and try not to worry. I have had a big gap where mine was taken ot for 5-6 yrs and i got used to it and i am fine. I dont think they can tell if you need a spacer for awhile. If your teeth start to move then maybe. But they really want to make money too-mine told me i needed a bunch of stuff untul i got to a good bio dentist and he told me the truth

If u need a spacer to keep teeth from.moving i dont thibk you need a crown..but if he says yoy do i would definutely ask around first

Is there any problems with getting an implant? That is actually about the same cost as a root canal and crown anyway so it would be a lot cheaper than getting both teeth next to the gap crowned.

Maybe let it heal for awhile and see how you are doing.

If you do decide to get an implant, make sure you are tested for compatible materials before doing so. (Clifford or Melisa are good) I think I might have a sensitivity to some of the materials in my dental implant, but not sure.

I had a titanium implant in 2008 and most of my symptoms started around that site. I wish I had gotten a zirconium implant instead.

There is a very recent thread here on the relationship between lyme and dental work. It stirs up all kinds of things. It will probably calm down for you in time. Detoxing and rest are good.

Yes, I too have had a lot of dental work recently and had started a post on it a couple of weeks ago.

My dental work did cause a bit of a flare and/or reaction to materials but has calmed down. Root canals and implants is the topic of the post. There are a couple of dental postings floating around.

Dan, your mouth, well really the tongue will get used to the hole. Right now the tongue is going to be real nosey and keep wanting to go to that area.

Did you know the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body. My poor hygienist and my dentist have to fight with my tongue all the time. It just doesn't like anybody entering it's space.

You need not be in any hurry to replace that area. Let it heal. Don't be surprised if the healing takes longer than you think it should. What did the dentist tell you to gargle with?

Dan, how are you feeling today? Still doing plenty of detox stuff? Keep up with chlorella or charcoal, whatever you are using to mop up some toxic matter.

Pam

I had a back left molar extracted and never filled it with anything. I would go for an implant if I did.

Tommorrow I'm supposed to be going for a root canal on an upper molar and I might just ask for an extraction. I'm not sure.

My brother had an implant years ago and is very happy with it. No problems so far.

I've read that root canal plus crown lasts longer than an implant, which may only last about 15 years. But maybe in 15 years there will something else that is better.

I don't know. Extraction vs. root canal and crown, I think I root canal wins.

Bridge vs implant... I'd take the implant.

Just my opinion.

Most biological dentists would tell you to stay away from root canals, as they are all toxic. When your immune system is compromised (like when you have Lyme disease), root canaled teeth are vulnerable areas and the bone around them can easily become infected, causing 'jaw cavitations'.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten both root canaled teeth pulled. I bet I would feel a lot better now than I do had I chosen that route.

Just checking in - the extraction was Monday AM....yesterday a little soreness around the hole..but i could ignore it...of course the tongue makes its way there on its own...been putting gauze wettened with black tea as the dentist suggested on the hole...

this morning however the pain is a bit more pronounced....and the hole feels a bit more more liquid-y...

the dentist didn't give me an antibiotic or tell me to gargle...his nurse told me not to eat anything with seeds or grainy that might get caught in the cavity left behind...

you're all going to think i'm crazy but since Monday noontime I haven't had much of the regular lower right back and hip pain that has plagued me for a long time...an unexpected and totally illogical result?

Dan, nothing would surprise me about having a troublesome tooth removed from the mouth.

No, you're not crazy. I'm surprised that abx wasn't given?

Are you currently on abx from LLMD? I'm not sure
of your tx protocol that you are on?

I hope it heals quickly for you. So you don't miss the buzzzzzzzzzzzz?
