I did a search and found some info... Know that it is precursor of Glutiathone. But wondering if you could share your experiences taking NAC?

Did it help with pain at all? Energy?

Did you take it alone or with ALA?

Any bad symptoms?

Thanks all.

I take it occasionally, notice nothing, really.

My dd, who has double A1298C MTHFR, with no sulfur issues,
did PharmaNac
(google it, it is the highest form/ best absorbed form of NAC,
in a tasty drink to boot)

had amazing benefit - cleared out excess glutamate/ reduced some OCD.

Maybe TMI, lol.
To me, it's pretty harmless, but a great tool in the detox chest for some---

I take it religiously every day. Its the one supplement my LLMD insists I take, other than fish oil. I take 1800mg per day.

It supports the kidneys and liver whilst on long term antibiotics and that's why I take it, but I also take it because I have the MTHFR mutation.

I really don't know what difference there would be if I did not take it, since I have taken it from the beginning of my treatment. But if its protecting my liver and kidneys and increasing glutathione, I guess that's good enough for me!

Here's why I am considering... Let me know if it is worth a try...

1) I take a lot of Tylenol... Rarely over DRD... But often right up to it. I know I shouldn't, but it's either that or pain I can't take anything else.

2) I hear it helps with mucus. I don't have it in my chest but tons in my sinus', nose and head. It occurs to me my dizziness may be related. Will it help with that?

3) detox and protection... Back on abx. Would like to lessen monthly flares. I also read it can help with overall inflammation...

I have never had elevated liver or kidney tests. But I realize I am taking a lot of stuff...

Is it better alone or with ALA?

Surprise, great that it helped dd.

Oceangirl, how are you doing overall? High recommendation that NAC and fish oil are the only supps she insists on.

Thanks everyone!

Here is a good overview of the function of NAC for increasing glutathione levels:

http://evolutionarypsychiatry.blogspot.ca/2012/06/glutathione-we-loves-it-nac-and-autism.html

Chris Masterjohn suggests taking the other essential precursors as well, l-glutamine and glycine.

Supplementing l- glutamine can be dicey for some-
not feeling clever enough to attempt explanation.

Kudz friend, NAC sounds ideal for you, on many levels, especially the mucus and liver support.

If you purchase PharmaNac (I endorse from experience)
the Wildberry tablets to drop in drink are individually foil wrapped and sealed,

so if it didn't work out for you, I'd sincerely purchase the rest off you.

how does this product look to you guys? (surprise, I don't think I'd like the fizz and the sugar substitute, but I may try it anyway, and I'm afraid to start on 900mg)

this is Pharmax Glutathione precursors per one pill. does it have enough NAC?

Amount Per Serving:

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) 200mg

Glutamic acid 200mg

Alpha-lipoic acid 200mg

Glycine 100mg

Other Ingredients:

Cellulose‚ silica‚ vegetable magnesium stearate.

Without sounding goofy, I believe if you are researching a product, and find one that speaks to you, get it.

The only thing would be the extra ingredients included besides NAC- if the supplement doesn't go well, you won't know if it's the NAC, or the glutamate, or the glycine...

I have a bottle of Pure Encapsulations NAC 600 mg capsule-
very clean.

Kayak .. TF just posted this on the glutathione thread:

Take a look at this thread:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/116117?

One poster mentions that if you don't have enough glut and you take alpha lipoic acid, you can get bipolar symptoms. Check it out.
