Has anyone had any issues with acid reflux?

I just went to an ENT who did a scope and believes that acid reflux might be the culprit.

I've been having nausea in the morning, and my throat feels irritated and looks inflamed.

I recently treated a candida overgrowth and - when the nausea in the morning started up - thought....uh oh....it's back!

But....I have no other candida symptoms.

Is it possible that you feel nauseous in the mornings because the acid sits in your stomach all night as you lie still?

I was told that I probably have "silent" reflux. So no regurgitation during the day....but at night while sleeping.

What's interesting is that once I eat....the nausea dissipates.

I just started pantoprazole and have to take it for 8 weeks.

Curious about what might be causing the acid when I've been on such a strict diet because of the candida???

I once heard that if you are too low in stomach acid, your body will actually produce more of it to help with digestion.

And that this acid can be produced in higher amounts than what you would get from certain foods.

Just confused, as the only other time I dealt with stomach acid was years ago when I was on doxycycline.

Any thoughts?

Consider h. pylori.

DGL 20 min. before meals may help with the reflux.

H. pylori can be eliminated with Mastic Gum.

Hi Razzle...

I just did some research and it looks like this could at least be a possibility.

I am going to bring this up at the ENT follow up in another several weeks.

Thank you for this advice!

Reflux is common with lyme. The reflux meds they prescribe can make lyme worse. I hope you can get it under control with the supps rzzle mentuoned

The prescription meds slowly make you sicker and then it is very hrd to go off them. Im going thru thst now

I dont know if this will help but often if i eat half an apple or a teaspoon or so of good honey after each meal it cuts way down on the reflux. But mine is the burning, regurgitating kind

Good luck

Oh jeez.....the reflux medication can make my Lyme worse??? [Frown]

Perfect.

I was on this same drug when I first got sick, but only for the few months I was on doxycycline because it was giving my awful heartburn.

Fortunately, I never had an issue stopping it. I just stopped.

I really just wish this could be rectified with dietary changes and supplements.

Now I'm scared about making the Lyme worse (although I am in remission).

But I'm so glad you mentioned this, lpkayak!

Is honey ok if you've battled candida? I'm thinking about the sugar.

I just don't get what would be causing the stomach acid if I'm not having caffeine, really eliminated most sugars, etc.

The last thing I want is to get sick again because of a doctor who was playing a guessing game. [Frown]

lpkayak-

I meant to ask you....

You mentioned that reflux meds can make Lyme worse.

Did an LLMD tell you this? Did you experience this yourself? Just curious if this happens to a lot of people....or is more of a slight possibility. [Smile]

Thanks!
