I would bet it's a 660nm red light emitting diode - I have used them and they're lovely - they come on one-light, three-light, multiple-array lights -
they do reduce pain - for me, within five minutes - in whatever area you hold them over, and they're also just good for the body - there's usually a manual of some sort explaining how to apply it for general body usage and why.

I would take something with Nogier frequencies and also with the 880 nm wave length, that goes deeper than the 660 nm.
The PE1 has a few different wave lengths in one machine, which I find helpful.
