Bad cramps in my calves especially at night when I stretch my legs out. Ringing in my ears which I thought was just a normal part of lyme, and pressure on top of my head which I thought was related to my babesia.
I just dont know, so when I got the cramps in my calves I stopped it.

- Ringing in my ears / tinnitus is a very common side effect of minocycline due to the ototoxic nature of it.
SO, LIVER SUPPORT is required to help minimize that as much as possible (as with many drugs that are ototoxic). Magnesium, too.
And avoid in the ear pods, or noise. Ears can be more easily damaged with on many antibiotics, so be sure to protect, even when around a hair dryer, blender, vacuum, lawn equipment, etc.
This often subsides for some, I hope it will for you, too.
Cramps in legs can be due to mineral deficiencies / out of balance. Magnesium and potassium are the usual culprits but you have to be careful with potassium doses.
I think you are wise to stop it, though, and then talk with your doctor about it. There is always another way (or things to help). -

The ringing in the ears is not good.
My doc said if I had anything with the ears to stop mino right away and phone the office.
I would call your doc if you can and mention the ringing ears.
Is it a usual herx symptom for you?

- Also consider all other Rx you may be taking. If any of those are ototoxic, adding to that can cause damage to ears / hearing / balance.

no it's not really a usual herx symptom for me. I'm more short of breath when i take it too, so i guess I'll stop and try something else now. I'm not on anything else right now other than herbal's.
Thanks keebler, I'm on renelix and pure body clear and just ordered burbur for organ support. lots of magnesium and lots of binders also.
Yeah guess this isn't going to be for me again. I've been on it before with no problems, i'm just so sensitive to everything right now and dont really know why

Minocycline effects the central nervous system. It's not the same as doxycycline even though they are in the same class. I had no problem with doxy.
The weakness and vertigo was awful on mino, I also had the breathing issues from the weakness.

jlcd1 or other posters--have you tried tetracycline? I was told it's supposedly easier to tolerate than mino but this post makes me question that.
-------------------- ------------ It took 20 years to find out I'm not crazy. New bite in 2010 pushed my body over the edge. Positive for lyme, babs, bart, and myco. I am not a doctor and happily offer only my own opinions. Posts: 357 | From The Beach | Registered: Feb 2011

I have not. Ive taken a ton of doxy...even did 3 months IV. Then I took 300mgs of mino a day easily after that for a very long time. Maybe I should try tetracycline now. Have you taken it?
My body for some reason is having trouble with abx right now.
