I can get Magnesium in a drip - but don't really want to do it that way - sounds like too much to start with. I want to go low and slow.

I have read the IM injections are painful.

Dr. Myhill writes about SubQ Mag. injections.
Low doses - daily? I would be OK with that if helpful.

Wondering about Mag. via IV push. Using a saline lock? Otherwise........I can now IV myself in my hands using a butterfly needle. Don't know if OK to do a push that way.

Thanks any thoughts/experiences.

I have an appt. soon - exploring options. Whatever I have been doing med-wise is making me worse - or I am getting worse - and I want to try new things.
Magnesium, Vitamin C, especially IV Glutathione. Thanks.

Is there any reason for your not trying one of the better absorbed oral forms of magnesium?

I often take magnesium malate, but am experimenting at present with magnesium glycinate and magnesium chloride too, so that I am not taking too much of any one form. The magnesium chloride is a liquid (by Nutricology), so I am hoping that it will be easily absorbed. It is too early at the moment for me to draw any conclusions.

Have you tried Magnesium Lotion by Ancient Minerals. You just rub it on arms & legs and the magnesium is absorbed into the system. Also regarding trying new things- have you tried Buhner's herbal protocol for Lyme?

Orally, it gets absorbed through the mouth - under the tongue (sublingually) especially better than through skin, I think so hold it in your mouth a while before swallowing. Do not do this if the formula / type selected is the least bit irritating, though.

You could also use a skin formula, too, if you wanted. Some can be rather irritating, though.

I like a liquid solution by Good State: ionic magnesium. It is gentle to the mouth and to the gut.

There is similar one, liquid, that TuTu recommends near the end of this thread:

ReMag is often compared to IV magnesium as far as efficacy.

I did the subq magnesium for years. It was great at maintaining my RBC mag levels. Only needed it twice a week.

However it is impossible for me to get it. So I made the switch to ReMag and have been really pleased. I do two droppers twice a day and my level even went up.

I find it much easier than oral mag where you have to time everything with your other meds. This was the big reason I went to subq magnesium.

BTW if I didn't get the lidocaine in the syringe tip right I found subq magnesium to be extremely painful. I always got a lump and had the occasional huge bruise.

Does Remag cause loose bowels? I need to take a high dose of magnesium, and many forms, especially in quantity, can lead to that problem.

That is one reason for my trying the magnesium chloride and glycinate, as most reviews state clearly that these tend not to cause it.

I too use magnesium oil topically after a bath, but on its own it doesn't give me enough magnesium.

I have found Epsom Salt baths to be very helpful. Epsom Salt contains magnesium sulfate and is absorbed through the skin.

I usually feel very energized after the bath. And on my worst days, it does help to take me up several notches.

Revisiting this. I seem to do better on IV Mag.
(drip 1g/50cc NS)than any other kind - oral or topical.
I want to try 1g pushes. (10cc NS).
The pushes don't seem very popular except for migraine relief.
Littlesprout - how fast did you do your IV push?
IIRC very slow pushes mitigates the irritation?

I have just made my first Mag-a-hol spray, using sodium chloride flakes from Ancient Minerals, vodka 40% and a tiny bit of glycerine. Has anybody else tried this? Anecdotally, it is supposed to be absorbed better than magnesium oil.
