I've been taking GSE recently for yeast, and I've been feeling just awful. Last night I had transient burning sensations when I had acute lyme. I'm scared I'm having a lyme relapse, although I'm currently on abx for that.
I've also been rotating with oil of oregano and olive leaf extract which don't usually give me problems.
Has anyone here had a strong reaction to grapefruit seed extract (NutriBiotic's Citricidal capsules?) I've been taking just one a day after a meal.
I suspect my flare might be babesia, but I thought I had that under control previously. Does GSE aggravate babesia, as well?
Thanks for your input.

There was no way I could have taken the capsules! I took the drops. One dosage was 15 drops (if I remember correctly). I started with ONE drop and felt terrible.
I eventually ramped up to five drops, but NEVER the full dose. It was brutal and I hated it. I think it caused more trouble than it helped.
It's also a cyst buster, so it could be causing a Lyme flare.

- Reactions to GSE may not be herxing - it's just such a strong substance. If you don't tolerate it, I would not continue as you have been. Try the one drop approach in half cup water, chase it with more water. -

- I'll never take GSE again, though. It just made me feel so terrible. Not a good match for my body at all.
Is the Olive Leaf Extract you take SEAGATE brand? If capsules, only the SEAGATE brand have been any good for me - and, according to author Morton Walker, there is a reason: they do everything right. So many other brands do not.
If a tincture, Herb Pharm and some others may be good but alcohol tinctures are not a good idea for those with candida for herbs that work in capsule form, too. Save the tinctures for those herbs that can only work as tinctures.
Seagate OLE, 16 capsules a day, cured candida for me. Now, Seagate also has a non-alcohol tincture. Good to do both capsules and then some tincture to soak into the mouth. -

Thanks for your replies. Although I didn't herx badly at first, it was a cumulative thing, and after two weeks I was very discouraged and anxious. I suspect it was the GSE NutriBiotic Citracidal.
I was using it because my blood test indicated I had more candida than I should.
However, I was having a Lyme flare prior and was throwing everything at it. I also went on my abx again. I had been off for three months.
I took Nature's Way olive leaf extract capsules with no problem. That has been good for times when I don't feel so well. I will check into the Seagate brand, but I thought that was rather costly, but if it takes care of the candida, I'll try it.
I was also herxing on BWF EB/HH6 and A-Babs as I increased the drops.
It is difficult to know what is beneficial and what is not, what is a herx and what is an intolerance. It seems to be a common concern on lymenet.
Thanks again.

It was way too strong for me. I guess each of us is different in what we can tolerate.

BWF are quite strong. My doc told me that if I herxed on them, to go back to the dose I wasn't herxing on.
