Anyone have any experience with this? Dr. Oz talked about it being an anti-anxiety. I'm looking for something natural for my daughter to combat panic attacks.

I love, love, love schizandra / schisandra.

Does she have lyme?

If so, lyme & other chronic stealth infections can CAUSE what may seem like panic attacks but they are very different in some ways (much longer, sort of always just "waiting")

When infection(s) are adequately treating, this usually subsided but ADRENAL support is vital.

No amount of support, though, will work if lyme or other infection is not considered and addressed.

If this is the same daughter for whom you have another thread about her eyes, I see that she is past childhood and adult doses of herbs would be in order. If for a different daughter,

Age of your daughter might matter with certain herbs. If a child, best to be guided by a naturopathic doctor. Well, that is best for everyone, anyway, as most herbs work better in a formula and not all are for everyone.

And, if for the same daughter of the eye post, a regular ND (naturopathic doctor) will not do. It would have be an ILADS educated LL ND.

Good luck.

This is the first formula I took with schizandra and I like this very much, it was a great relief. For an adult, I'd suggest this as a good place to begin. Not sure for children as an ND would know best.

A very nice formula that contains Wu Wei Zi (Schizandra) - and also SALVIA (Dan Shen - Red Root Sage Root):

And a good quality FISH OIL.

AVOID FLUORESCENT BULBS -- Eliminate any fluorescent lights (a lot of those energy savers are these). CREE LED bulbs can work for me but for most of my lamps, I still use incandescent bulbs, even in lamps on counter in the kitchen.

If she is in school, the lights -- and also those adrenal / nerve shattering bells are likely a huge clobber.

Consider:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=029690;p=0

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors (that are not likely natural at all).

MASSAGE can also be very helpful to calm the nervous system of the body. Although your daughter may not have autism as a diagnosis, asking parents of an autism support group for the

name of a LMT (licensed massage therapist) would yield the best results for a professional that has good skill for anxiety reduction techniques.

If a LMT is also trained in FELDENKRAIS, that might also be advantageous for someone with anxiety. They are very gentle and really know the nervous system and also the vestibular system.

If you can see the movie about Temple Grandin (DVD) . . . the idea of "hug" therapy being so effective - but also other times when touch is just too much.
