I was recently diagnosed with Lyme and Anaplasmosis. My LLMD says he thought the Anaplasma was from a recent tick bite based on my Igenex results, but I have had the Lyme for decades based on testing and symptoms. I had a bad allergic reaction to both Doxycycline and Minocycline, so now I am starting on Ceftin. Does anyone know if Ceftin will treat the Anaplasma? The research I have done says it is not effective on it.

Are you sure this was an allergic reaction? Sometimes it is mistaken for a herxheimer reaction, which is quite common in lyme disease.

Yes, I am pretty sure. Stuck with it for two weeks per my LLMD and my skin was itchy and red at first, then turned hot, raw, and inflamed, then started peeling off. My face swelled up. My entire body and face had a bad rash. My ears and brain felt swollen. It was really bad.

Also, I took Minocycline for acne previously (only 50 mg/day) before I knew I had Lyme disease, and used to get unexplained rashes that I never knew the cause of. Was probably from the allergy that I didn't know about.

Yes, it does sound like an allergy. As you have figured out, that was the usual treatment for anaplasmosis. And allergies to penicillin drugs are more common. That is why I asked.
It is possible to be desensitized; it is usually but not always a gradual process and maybe you don't want to go there.

Oh, no. I hope I am not allergic to penicillin drugs too. Then I don't know what I will do.

Yes, I know you weren't suggesting that, but I have a couple of the penicillin drugs coming up in my protocol.
