I feel for anyone on Rifampin. NOT my favorite drug.

Akathisia. I think this means it's hitting your brain.
I would do brain calming things. ( Like what?)
This is one instance where a benzo wouldn't hurt. Magnesium, mct fats ( rub them on as well as eating), lavender oil, progesterone, aspirin or curcumin, epsom bath, skullcap, vitamin b1, buteyko or bag breathing.

You have my sympathy. I couldn't tolerate rifampin AT ALL when I first went on it. I tolerated most of my treatment (3 1/2 years of aggressive tx) just fine, but rifampin was terrible. I did finally manage a round near the end of my abx tx, but even then it was pretty horrid -- much like you describe. I don't think I ever really got to the Bart ... I'm hitting it herbally now.

My rifampin herxes started off AWFUL, but it HAS definitely helped with neuropsych issues. I pulsed it, and the herxes got less intense over time.
It's hard to explain my herxes from Rifampin. The best I can say is that I remember being extra miserable in a flu-like, out-of-it, extra introspective and depressed way. I remember sitting on the porch and my bf came out and said, "You look awful. Like sick awful. Beautiful, but so sick. Please go to bed."
Several people, and my llmd, say it can cause psych herxes. Not fun, but it was worth the herxes for my particular case.
I'm sorry you're going through this. Keep fighting!

- sugarfree tonic water you say you just added
. . . check the ingredients. If it contains aspartame, that can cause restless leg syndrome - and a lot of agitation and brain fog, too.
Any artificial sweetener is bad news, though.
Stevia, from a plant, is a good sweetener, although there are many kinds on the market that are not all that "clean"
Also, tonic water can be a bit rough on the stomach lining, just so you know that. -
