I haven't been tested yet, but there's about thismuch doubt in my mind that I have Lyme. I want to get tested soon so I can get started on some kind of treatment asap. Cognitive issues have been getting worse kinda rapidly lately, so I don't want to wait any longer than necessary.

However, a friend of mine who lives out of town has asked me to housesit for her for a month, and given the timing it would probably push my testing back 2 months. (I'm going to take abx before testing, and I'm not wild about the idea of herxing for the first time while I'm out of town.)

Thing is, I have lots of friends where she lives whom I get to see for maybe a weekend once a year, and I'd love to be able to spend a month near them! But I'm concerned about pushing treatment back just that much more.

Would another 2 months be a big deal? Now that I know what's going on (I realize now that I've had this for years and years), it feels like an emergency that I need to address yesterday.

What do you think?

You make this decision based on how rapidly your lyme is progressing. You say the cognitive issues have been getting worse kind of rapidly lately.

If you can feel comfortable about how much worse you think you may get in 2 months, then enjoy yourself and delay treatment.

However, if you believe that you will be in really bad shape in 2 months, then don't delay.

Now that you know you have had lyme for years, it really is not an emergency to treat it right away in most cases. It all depends on what the lyme is doing to you and how quickly it is progressing.

The main thing right now is to get the best lyme specialist you can possibly afford and to learn as much as possible about lyme disease before your first appointment.

If there is a long wait to get in with a top lyme doctor, then start out with a lesser doctor while you wait for your great doctor. That is what we all have to do.

Just my opinion but Lyme disease can cause such havoc in your life that maybe you should have the testing done before you go away to house sit. It can also rapidly deteriorate the mind as well as the body. Maybe it would be best to test first and then your LLMD can call in your abx to a pharmacy near where you will be house sitting. Untreated, it can cause distortion of reality and night terrors, night sweats, wasting of muscles, loss of coordination, overwhelming fatigue, etc., etc.
