Last month I slipped a disc in my thoracic spine while my stomach and esophagus were having some kind of meltdown in the middle of the worst herx ever.

The only way I could get to the ER without an ambulance was to swallow a ton of flexeril until my ribs stopped convulsing. I asked my PCP for more flexeril; she said no.

Since then I've had some truncal weakness. I can't tell if it's from the disc or just more Lyme tricks. For some reason it's starting to hurt again and I'm terrified my ribs are going to do that thing again, this time without meds. The thoracic doesn't have the kind of margin for error the lumbar spine does, I feel like this could get really bad.

Any old hands at back stuff? What would you do in my position? I never had a single back issue before this, now I've got busted discs all up and down my spine.

I would take lots of magnesium myself. For sure!

Have you been checked for EDS?

I'm tall and flexy but not very thin and not double jointed.

TBH, the way this year has gone, if I have it I'm not sure I'd even want to know.

Yes, continue the supplemental magnesium to help reduce inflammation and muscle spasms, and eat foods high in magnesium.

In my experience, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) has stopped muscle spasms and helped heal injuries three times as quickly.
I used the SOTA Magnetic Pulser, but there are many other machines available.

PEMF restores the circulation in the cells so that they can heal.
Some physical therapy companies and medical practitioners use PEMF, but the professional models are quite expensive and they may charge $50 or more per treatment.

Here's an article about back pain and PEMF:
https://www.drpawluk.com/health/back-pain-lumbar-disc/

If you want, I can give you links to multiple studies and to comparisons of the various machines available.
I also found a book I'd like to recommend to you.

[Smile] Thanks, recommend away.

I'll find a PEMF. I probably need it for my whole spine.

This book is astounding.

Incurable Me: Why the Best Medical Research Does Not Make It into Clinical Practice
Published September 27, 2016.

I read some of the chapters at Amazon.com (using both kindle and hardcover versions) and some of them at https://books.google.com/
but I haven't ordered it yet.

I was just thinking it sounded like EDS is a possibility and if you have that, you could very likely have MCAS .. and there is help for that.

Thanks guys.

I was thinking about MCAS lately. Antihistamines help me a lot, I discovered during the flu I had. A lot more than I expected and I've actually been wondering the same thing.

I have heard of Incurable Me, but now that I look at the website I thought it was about something else. I actually thought it was something along the lines of Medical Medium where the guy tells you to eat blueberries and coconut oil. I'll check it out!
