Please, no need to apologize to men. This is a problem shared by all - women and men who know & love the girls and women in their lives.

Magnesium many help. Also key herbs such as Angelica.

A warm heating pad.

Liver support - but not harsh detox "events"

look up "Tori Hudson, ND" for she is a ND expert in women's issues. She has a book and articles.

Thanks Keebler. I will look up the book. I already take quite a bit of magnesium.

I will also look into Angelica.

Magnesium forms can vary widely in how well they work. Also, must be taken 3 x a day in order to achieve proper coverage. Never all at once as that can be too hard on kidneys.

Magnesium is really good as helping muscle spasms relax, and that helps during one's period.

Also, if there is constipation, that's another thing that can make cramps so much worse. Be sure your bowels are moving nicely.

Scroll down slowly here . . . many different segments.

The LIVER is a key organ that, when stressed, can cause all kinds of menstrual distress. Be sure your liver support is steady & solid. But not any harsh "detox EVENTS" - gentle is the key.

"Detoxing as much as you can" could leave you with some nutrient deficits and also stress on your body. It's not about how much one detoxes, more about how gently one can while being comprehensive in the approach.

Angelica - also called Dong Quai ("Dong Q-why"). It's helpful to break up "stagnant blood" that can cause spasms, etc. "Stagnant Blood" is a term used in Chinese Medicine. Detail:

One issue for girls & women with lyme during their period is that, with lyme, for men & women, blood can be "sticky" or red blood cells ccan "stack" . . . the fibrogen(...) / something I forget what it's called,

anyway, it's common for lyme to cause blood stagnation from the Chinese medicine way of looking at things and also from the Western Medicine way, too.

Naturopathic doctors have many different approach that can help. For each person, thought, it would be an individualized approach.

One commonly used with lyme to help "move blood" is PRICKLY ASH BARK.

Ideally, it would be best to consult a LL ND (naturopathic doctor) as they would know the lyme influences that can complicate things and offer individual treatment options in light of what other Rx or OTC items you might be taking.

Lyme is known to cause all kinds of disruptions and issues with menstruation. A LL ND would best understand all that and what can be done about it.

They would also know if / when you might require some other kinds of assessments and refer you to competent experts they trust.

I'm assuming you've already consulted your gynecologist and have come up short on solutions.

A LL ND may know other gynecologists who might be better equipped to address the matter for someone with your specifics if further evaluation might be in order.

Ohio Naturopathic Doctors Association

then ask if any have completed the ILADS Physician Training Program . . . and who might be best for women's health issues.

If you are near another state, you might also search for their state organization.

If cost is an issue, ask about sliding fee scale - or any kind of other options for someone in such a position. They might recommend certain books or articles, lectures, etc.
