Hello all, I am a new member and wanted to describe what is happening to me to see if I can rule out Lyme as a cause.

I get up daily at 6AM and I feel great until the sun comes up. The sun comes out at 7AM and by 8:30AM I start gradually getting fatigued, blurred vision, dizzy, brain fog, and a hot head. By 11:30, I am disoriented with brainfog and very fatigued until I take another cold shower.

If I jump into a freezing cold shower and my vision gets clear right away and the fatigue is gone for about 30mins after I get out of the shower before the symptoms come back.

If I go to a movie theater mid day, my symptoms fade away within 20-25 mins once I enter the pitch-black room but come back after I leave the dark theater.

If I sit in a closed door 100% dark closet (as an experiment), I start feeling better after 20mins for as long as there is no light.

Just the natural light coming in from the windows of my apartment does this. On very dim stormy days with a dark sky I am 90% symptom free. (I work from home thank goodness or I would be sunk)

The sun goes down at 730PM but the symptoms are fading by 7PM. By 8PM I am 100% symptom free until 830AM the next day.

In 2006-2007, I lived in St Louis and the during the winter (Nov to Feb) it is cold with no sun. Both years I was 100% symptom free during those months. In Florida, I have mild symptoms from Dec-Feb but it still happens just very mild-like. Dec-Feb UV is 2-3 in Orlando.

As you can gather, Sunlight is always 100% the factor.

I grew up in Massachusetts and had red bulls-eye tick bites as a kid twice that I know of but my parents didn't know any better to take me to the doctor and I never knew until my mid 30s about Lyme. (I am 49 now)

I got a Lyme test 19 years ago but I was told they were very unreliable and my test came back negative. As did the lupus blood test.

A past girlfriend of 6 years told me she was diagnosed with Lyme shortly after we parted ways so that's when I had my test that came back negative. Again the doctor said they were not reliable.

The fact that I am fine at night rules out a lot of things like allergies, mold, air pollution, diet, etc.

It’s appears that I have some sort of Sun radiation triggering hyper inflammation going on. Is it possible to have Lyme if my symptoms only occur when I am exposed to sunlight?

classic signs of adrenal dysfunction that often goes with lyme. Light can be very stressful to the adrenals . . . as can cold showers, and really just any activity.

One major aspect of treatment for adrenal failure is aggressive rest in a very quiet dark room. This goes back decades. Even whispering or even a dim light can be far too stressful for those close to adrenal trouble.

The cold showers sparks adrenaline - a short term fix but dangerous and perpetuated the problem. Avoid that kind of harsh stress.

That you feel better for quite / dark "treatment" at day -- and again at night is also a classic adrenal dysfunction AND lyme pattern. By not means, though, is the relief that is felt at night an indication that you are fine.

Movie theaters also usually have very good air, cooler and I swear they pump in oxygen (maybe not but I used to always feel better in a good film, too, back in the day before the hyperacusis set in -- but then they all got WAY Too loud!!).

the distraction of a good film, too, helps for it's like drugs to the entire adrenal system and the brain "drug" centers. Really.

It's a trick the body plays with the "flipped" hormonal response that really just revs you up.

Same thing happens at night when all around us usually quiets down, there is less daylight but rather than settle down, we "wake" up. But do not be fooled.

See articles in the adrenal thread and get Wilson's book. Start there. There are many things you can do that could help - and many things to avoid as well.

Since you grew up in Mass. & " had red bulls-eye tick bites as a kid twice" that is a major consideration, indeed.

So, can you be evaluated by a doctor who is lyme literate and ILADS "educated"?

That's who would be best to sort this out. It's likely a combination of factors but this I know - the typical doctors are not educated enough to sort through what you describe.

My understanding is that any tick bite accompanied by a red bull's eye rash means Lyme disease!

Tests are not always accurate.

Time to see a Lyme doctor. You can post for referrals in Seeking a Doctor.

Good comments, Keebler!

A bullseye after a tick bite is confirmation you have been exposed. The other part of diagnosis is having symptoms. Your symptoms could be Lyme. Might be a good idea to see a natural doctor or an LLMD depending on what kind of treatment you prefer.
