I got my blood work back from my last LLMD visit. My wbc count was 8.9 and the rbc was 5.6 plt count was 201. Doctor said everything was normal. I asked him about the lymph it was low it was a 15 I think the normal range is 16-52. He didn't seem too concerned.

Is it normal for Lyme to effect the lymph count and make it low?

I was waiting and hoping that someone else would reply to this question, but since no one else has, I'll try.

If you look at the numbers, you are so close to being within range on the lymphocytes that I'm sure that's why your LLMD didn't seem to be too worried about it.

Our LLMD has said that it's more important to watch the bigger TRENDS than it is to watch every little item on a CBC or CMP panel which is slightly out of range.

There can be a lot of variation among these CBC numbers, so minor deviations aren't all that big a deal most of the time, as long as the total WBCs don't drop too low, like down into the danger zone (3 or below). Anything above 4 for WBCs is not really worrisome at all for Lyme patients, who often tend to have lower WBCs.

My CBC shows an elevated WBC frequently and I'm on many different abx. My LLMD also does not seem to be all that concerned about it.

Does anybody have this problem? Is it rare to have an elevated WBC with lyme.

I personally think it is very strange to have elevated WBC count while being on so many abx, unless there is another infection that is not being treated.

Any thoughts?
