I went to my second apt. for diability and they told me to go home cuz I was so sick.. Just came back for N.J. to see my llmd.
She gave me a Cortazone shot and one other (i forgot ) she said my joints were very swollen. I was in tears from the pain.
That was Mon. it is now wed. and I feel MUCH better. I've only had to take one vicoden today.
Anyway, she wants me back on the picc again !!!! Not liking this!!! With two drips a day of Doxy. Not sure the dose yet. She's setting up with my pcp here.
Does anyone have info on a picc line cover? I need one this time... Soooooooooooo tired of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie, your LLMD gave you a CORTISONE SHOT!? I do know that some LLMD allow short term steroids but I'd be VERY careful. They are merely a band aid for pain yet can make the Lyme rage. My LLMD allowed it and it was a DISASTER! I lost so much ground.

Thanx, Lymelighter, I've heard about steriods and lyme....I've been with her a while now and she's never resorted to a steriod shot up until now.
I could barely walk even with a cane. She said I my joints were exteremly swollen. She perscribed Vioxx from here on out.
You said you had lymerage? How much steriods had you had? I've experienced lyme rage before but not due too steriods.

Hi Jamie,
I had a xerosox when I had my picc line in and I LOVED it. It made showering very easy and I was even able to swim with it (some people are wary of this but it worked fine for me). www.xerosox.com. They last for a very long time - very durable. Just a great product!

Yep, it's a cast cover. But so are most things that would be used for picc line protection during showers. It works so well! The only thing is that the hand of the arm the line is in is covered with the mitten part of it so you can't wash that in the shower. But you can still use the hand to hold things and stuff, as long as it's not slippery stuff. I loved my xerosox and if I ever have a picc again (probably won't since I have a port now) I would definitely go with a xerosox again.
