Hi Robin,
I did a search today on Mepron. This is just background reading from the manufacturer to show you children as young as 1 month old have been given Mepron.
But as you said, only Dr. Jones has the perfect answer for your kids.
The site is below:
You have to scroll down to the MEPRON heading in blue; click on that; enlarge your screen.
It's very long, but scroll through the info & you'll see a chart where children have been given Mepron 10 mg/kg of body weight or 30 mg/kilogram of body weight.

The actual dosage instructions begin at age 13 and up.
I'm really glad you're on the look-out for Babesiosis. I was treated for about one-year before I got to take Mepron. My symptoms were shortness of breath & fine tremor of head; bad neuro problems.
Mepron made me a "mean mommie." It goes to the brain & can cause depression & insomnia.
Here's a site where Dr. B. talks about Babs.
http://www.angelfire.com/ny/lymedisease/fdn.html
Again, you'll have to scroll down to the Babs part.
paraphrased:
At least 90% of his chronic patients tested positive for Babs. It causes brain dysfunction & headaches.
1. Much more common than originally thought
2. High fever is rare
3. becomes chronic when Lyme is chronic
My Babs was just a simmering case----right under the radar.
Pediatrics is such a whole different ballgame when it comes to dosing meds, but I've seen moms on this board give Mepron to their kids.
Hope this helps a little. Best wishes.
Take Care,
Jan
P.S. Sorry -----just saw your earlier post. One pound of weight is 2.2 kilograms.
