little g,
I just got my picc line on wednesday the 25th. It was a whole lot easier than my mind had made it out to be that is for sure! LOL I hate you had to stay there 5 hours that would drive me crazy.
I will be giving myself the rocephin each day having to flush the lines and all that crap sounds like a major pain in the butt to me but if it makes me feel better I will gladly do it.
I over did things yesterday and am a little sore today so be careful and lay low as possible.
Good luck,
Stacie

Thanx everyone for the encouragement. I'm so bummed out because I have to do my drip twice a day

8:00am for 2 and half hours. and then again at 8:00pm for 2 and a half hours EVERY DAY!!!

For 3 months!!!!! Tom. I find out how much of the Doxy I'm actually getting...

So I'll be on here asking about herxes and stuff...

Hi,

I'm glad you got the picc in, even if it was a frustrating experience. When I had mine put in a few years ago (when I was on IVs last time) I went into the hospital after two failed tries at home to get a midline in (thought it was going to be short-term treatment) and it took a number of hours there before I could leave because I had an allergic reaction to the dye they used to see my veins. It was a bad experience but after that everything went smoothly. I hope things go as well for you! Now I have a port for IVs and I really like it, more freedom but more hassle to get put in.

It does such having to do two drips a day, and especially since they're so long! I do two a day of Rocephin but they only take about a half hour each. I have done IV Zithromax which was about an hour drip but only once a day. Hopefully you'll find something constructive to do with those 5 hours a day - like nap! Or find some good movies you've been meaning to watch.

I'll be interested to hear how the IV doxy goes for you since I've been unable to handle oral doxy. I'm always curious to hear about other people's experiences with drugs so I can have more info in this little library of a mind I have!

Take care and get some rest!

Hey hey little g...

YIKES!

You had to stay at the duck motel for FIVE HOURS!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! NOT FUN!!!!

But typical of that place, eh?

I am happy you got the picc...

You don't sound near as freaked as I did when I got mine... and I hope you aren't.

Good for you!!!

May I suggest...

Make a little comfortable "spot" for yourself.. with all the stuff you will need when doing the drip. Keep it all in one place so you won't be pole dragging all over the house to get this or that.

Be sure to have a phone nearby so you can talk to folks while waiting.. just to pass the time.

Make a list now of things you have always wanted to do but never sat down and took the time to do...

Put photos in albums... make a new address book... read a book... read magazines... write a story... write letter to the idiots who didn't help you sooner.

And.. you could always come here and spend some time helping others through their troubles. That would be great too!

I hope it goes well for you little g...

And soon you will be as happy as you can beeeeeeeeeee!

Like meeeeeeeeeeee!
