Hello everyone, I'm on 150mg. twice a day thru Picc... I started on 75mg. twice a day and my llmd uped it

Now she wants me on 200mg. twice a day..Just curious, has anyone been on Doxy?

I have 10 weeks left to go and I am having no major herxes. Call it lucky or maybe it's not strong enough?

Every other treatment I've been on, was very hard and painful. So bad to the point where I had to stop it.

But this is a piece a cake. I'm happy of course that it's going so well...but concerned too.

Any suggestions or other experiences out there?

I go to see my llmd on monday. So of course I'll talk to her about this too.

I hope I didn't just jinx myself I've had moments where I had to stay in bed and use my pain meds...

But that's it! Oh well hope to hear from ya'll...

Jamie

Many, many, many people here have been given Doxy...it's very, very common.

As for herxing, I agree, maybe the bacteria hasn't cycled yet.

You did not state when you started the abx. Which, BTW, are you stating that the abx you are on IS Doxy, or are you just asking about Doxy? I couldn't tell by your post.

Not sure of what the mg of the drug you are taking or what it is through you Picc, but, you may just get a herx if you are on the 400mg/daily doses you llmd want you to take.

I didnt herx on doxy until I got to 400 mg. For me though, doxy was pathetic and very useless, but thats just ME.

If you feel ok and you arent herxing, yet arent sliding backwards.. its a good thing. You may not herx on it just improve!

Wouldnt that be something?

Hold onto your hat, little g...

I am laughing now...

And while YOU feel like it.. you should be too!

Hopefully you won't herx horrible....

But don't count your lucky stars before they hatch.

Or something like that!

It could still blow up a storm and rain all over you!

To second what COL said, you are on a very low dose of doxy. That doesn't mean you aren't getting better, but until you get an abx that crosses the blood brain barrier (BBB) please be cautious. The conventional wisdom is that doxy does not cross the BBB until you hit 400mg/day.

Hi there,

One thing that I don't think anyone mentioned, is that there are tow different types of abx...Bactericidal and Bacteriostatic.

Bactericidal outright kills the pathogen...

Bacteriostatic (which Doxy is)...just slows the pathogen down enough so that your immune system can go after it on it's own...so maybe this lessens the intesity of herxing since the die off isn't all at once?

I'm not a doctor, but I rememebr that is how it was explained to me once...
