#1- Age 43
#2- Male
#3- New Hampshire
#4- Doc said "For a number of years"
#5- About 7 months
#6- My PCP said I was suffering from "depression"- I asked him if depression can cause my joints to swell w/pain; numbness thruout body, neck pain, etc... he said "it could be physcosomatic" in other words that if I think about it enough I'll feel that way! Finally I was able to escape from that old PCP!
Two rheumatologist have begun by saying; "I'm not a Lyme Disease Specialist", then in next breathe they said, "but you don't have Lyme Disease, you have fibromyaliga (sp)!" (Although in their medical reports they admit they don't know for sure, and it is possible). Why don't they stick to their practice instead of jumping over into someone else's field?

For my daughter:

1. 11
2. Female
3. Live in Pennsylvania
4. Had lyme since Oct 1999
5. Originally treated for 3 weeks with duricef for "tonsillitis". After I remembered the "black itchy scab" and "ringworm rash" from October 1999, doctors said "how fortunate that she was treated with 3 weeeks of duricef, it cured her because her tests are negative" (yeah right). Has been taking ceftin and biaxin since Dec 19, 2000.
6. Diagnosis (in order) - Viral meningitis, Tonsillitis (had a tonsillectomy), Irritable bowel syndrome, conversion disorder, neuromuscular pain caused by psychological stress, Tachycardia, Chronic fatigue syndrome, osgood-slaughter syndrome, sinusitis, impetigo, occipital headache and finally Lyme.

Tests: 3 lyme elisas (1 positive); 3 western blots (all negative); mono and strep test; hida scan of gall bladder; 2 mri's of brain; 1 mri of spine; ultra-sound of kidneys, bowels, appendix (twice) and ovaries; spinal tap; various x-rays (knees, chest, abdomen, ankles); stool tests; currently waiting on new test results for lyme, erlichia, babesia and tissue type test.

1) Age 36
2) Sex Female
3) What state do you live in? MN
4) How long have you had Lyme? August 1999
5) Recieving treatment? off and on since December 1999, same abx. to treat mycobacterium also same to treat Lyme.
6) Where you mis-diag'ed w/ something else before Lyme? Mine is rather complicated. It all started with a mycobacterium in my leg, presumed spider bite (ha,ha). After surgery 12-99 and some abx, I herxed terribly and they had no idea what was wrong as they were treating for the mycobacterium, lyme was never even a thought as I had a negative ELISA.
After 18 doctors, I am: Crazy, arthritis, Lupus, virus, MS, fibromylagia, chronic fatigue syndrome, FUO, and the finest was "you are one of the small percentage that we will never know what is wrong, we will maintain you on steroids the rest of your life to supress the symptoms",you name it. The only thing that really gave me help so the MD's didn't give up was my 100 degree constant temperature. That is what saved me.
Finally, January 8, 2001 I am offically told it is Lyme and on another round of abx.

1) 47 (going on 30 till I got this disease, now going on 80!)
2) Male
3) Upstate New York
4) May, 2000 (in Brigantine, NJ, had ticks/rash.)
5) Had 2 courses of Doxycycline, the pharmacy botched the prescription but I evenrually got in first 5 or 6 weeks, 100 mg twice a day, then same dose for 4 weeks when I got joint pain, headache, fever, and nausea in August
6) No- they wanted to, but there was too much evidence. But the clinic I was going to wouldn't treat me anymore, and I'm still sick so I'm looking for someone I can work with now (not terribly easy in america for a car-free, insurance-free musician...)
7) ("hey, didn't you fill this out before?" -I thought so, but I must not have done it right, since my info doesn't seem to have appeared-well, folks, here it is now...)

6. 1st doctor: Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and "just meningitis"
2nd doctor: 3 days after finishing RMSF malpractice dose of 7 days Doxy - poison ivy, an upper respiratory tract infection and, once again, "just meningitis"
3rd doctor: 3 days after the 2nd quack -"it sounds like Lyme but I don't think it is" no antibiotics and that worthless antibody test was performed even though I had a week on Doxy prior to the test so it was negative. She called to tell me my test was negative and nothing was wrong with me!
4th doctor: 3 days after the 3rd one - Lyme Encephalitis. This doctor saved my life and I am forever grateful!!!
