I just had a baby in Oct. and I have a 7 yr. old. I was fine for 2 years until I had a cortisone shot for back problems about 4 weeks ago. Now I have all my nuero. symptoms back. My doctor thinks it is related to the trauma of the shot or the back problems, but why would my facial nerve stuff be involved? Be help any advice.

I am sorry to hear about your problem, but congratulations on the baby!

Just my opinion:

I would think that the cortisone shot probably gave you a step backwards. Cortisone suppresses the immune system. You may have been doing all right fighting residual LD effects, but with the shot you lost the assistance of your immune system.

Pregnancy and childbirth also tax the system.

I was doing okay till I broke my ankle and had to have surgery. Whether it was the anesthesia or the trauma or whatever, I haven't been the same since.

I agree with the trauma and/or anesthesia theory.

I have been feeling just awful for about a month. Aside form horrible stomach problems, I have had a return of facial ticks and other CNS tremors.

I realized this morning that some of this could quite possibly from some extensive dental work I have been having. Although my dentist is taking her time with this and is very cognizant of my LD, I do have to get novocaine injections in my jaw. I also had some very minor surgery on Friday, involving a local anesthesia. I have been feeling like dog poo since then, with lots of neuro stuff and a horrible backache (surgery was on back & abdomen area).

I recall when I had what my Orthopedic MD called tennis elbows and knees. (Yeah, I never heard of tennis knees either). After much resistance he finally convinced me to get cortisone injections. It did nada for me. It wasn't too long after that that things went seriously downhill and I was properly diagnosed with LD.

I think anything invasive like cortisone or anesthesia or even a critter living inside you ;-) can cause tremendous trauma and zap your energy. My neuro stuff often comes from body fatigue, like after working out. I think it might be temporary and you should bounce back in time. Good to talk to your MD.

Hope you feel better.

Bc

Congratulations on the baby.
Having 2 children to care for makes it tough when you feel bad.

I agree with Monica.

I'm not a dr so I'm not diagnosing....just suggesting possibilities.
It's possible that the stress of pregnancy may have caused your Lyme to flare up.
If it did, then Lyme MAY be a contributing factor with your back problem.

Are you nursing your baby?
Don't want to alarm you, but think you should know that a nursing baby could possibly get Lyme disease.

Did a LLMD treat you for Lyme?
Call for a consultation Monday if you are nursing.
My recommendation would be to go in for an evaluation by your Lyme Dr to see what's going on.

Keep in touch & let us know how you're doing.
We care!
