Check out www.pressconnects.com. If you read it after today, click on 'news' over on the left, then click on 'Sunday' at the bottom of the page to get the article on Lyme Disease.

This is the county that I live in and it has long held the reputation, in my opinion, of being one of the most ignorant when it comes to understanding and educating the community about Lyme Disease. I have gone round and round with them - they are convinced that our family must have 'brought in' our Lyme Disease from some other state, because they are a 'low incidence county'.

Today's article in the local paper added a few more bizarre facts - that this county somehow has ticks that are less dangerous than in other NYS counties!!!

Compared to past articles, this one wasn't the worst...I only got 'really mad' instead of irate. If you are up for it, I'd love to see some letters written to the paper. I have mine all drafted. They will only accept a letter that is less than 200 words....

This local newspaper is basically poor in quality. I only purchase it on Sundays - we have a parakeet and need the paper for his cage!

Cave - too funny.

Cootie girl, yes there are papers and writers that stink! I also believe there is political involvement with local papers and someone on high doesn't want to create a stir or activism within your SAFE County. Think of all the people that can live in your county and be assured they might get lyme, but it won't nearly be as bad as those in surrounding counties.

I would not be surprised if they stick your article in the puzzle section.

My suggestion would to be careful within your article not to knock the city/town/county and stay focused on the illness, it's effects and treatment. They'll edit so much before they print, they may not print it. Good luck.

You go girl!

p.s. If they do a bad job, I purchase a batch to line the floor for my puppy

maybe put a little leash and collar on them.give'em name's.maybe little tic sweater's.

you could start raising them.give some away to family and friend's.they can start there own little colonie's..sorta like ant farm's..

you are soooo lucky.take them on trip's with you.you could be the envy of the empire state.

hell, send some to ol'george the gov..could generate income for the down trodden..election season is coming up.

You should move to Rochester NY where "There has NEVER been a case of lyme disease". And as long as these ducks are in control there NEVER will be. NEVER EVER!

It does not matter if you live in a different county, you are lyme free when you cross the border, just like the ticks. (You should see the police stopping and inspecting all the ticks.)

Maybe if you moved here you would be instantly cured? In fact I am quite sure you would be cured! You may develop RA or some other "unrelated" disease however.

So you saw a circular ring rash? Don't you know that RA causes a circular ring rash? (I have been told that by the ducks!)

Anyway you are not alone, there are a lot of ignoramus's in NY.
