Posting for Dr. Carol Fisch. An Outstanding Conference was Held in Farmington, CT just outside of Hartford, CT this past Saturday on May 7. I feel so fortunate to have attended this wonderful inspiring conference put on by The Greater Hartford Lyme Disease and Action Group.
I in a wheel chair and Dr. JoAnne Whitaker in another were determined to be part of this conference.
I had had my gallbladder out a little over a month ago and Dr. JoAnne had had a stroke but we wanted to be there and made the trip on sheer will power! What a wonderful tired we feel and so rejuvenated for having done so.
There were approx. 285 people who attended the conference (Standing room only).
Dr. JoAnne Whitaker of Bowen Research was the first to speak, then Dr. Lita Mattman who has spend many years studying Cell Wall Deficient organisms which we are all loaded with or have been.
The next speaker was Dr. Bernard Raxlen, a Psychiatrist from Greenwich, CT, who gave credit to the first two speakers for all they have done in research to help the clinicians. Dr. Raxlen is a phenomenal speaker and got a standing ovation.
Dr. Leslie Ann Fein of West Caldwell, NJ was the Master of Ceremonies and also presented on Bartonella.
Dr. Richard Horowitz gave a well rounded talk that covered every aspect of Tick Born Illness and treatment. He was interrupted by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal who came for a short time but was very inspirational to everyone as he presented plaques to Dr. Charles Ray Jones and to Polly Murray the mother of Lyme Disease.
DR. Jones couldn't be there to pick up his award as he was being the kind humanitarian he is by seeing children on Saturday whose parents couldn't get them there during the week. If ever there was a Doctor who should be elected for Sainthood in out time, it is this wonderful man.
If it were not for Polly Murray's insisting that the Children of Old Lyme, CT could not all have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lyme disease might not have been discovered.
Dr. Horowitz was not sorry to have his talk interrupted for such a historical moment.
Garth Nicolson gave a most interesting talk on Mycoplasma Fermentans; How it was invented for one purpose only and that was to incapacitate a person. His work on Finding Mycoplasma Fermentans in Gulf War Illness and in CFIDS patients was an eye opener for many. Information that many of us know but information that was news to many in the audience but needed to be shared.
I was sorry to have to leave and not hear Dr. Horowitz get his guitar out and sing a song he wrote "Olde To The Deer Tick," I had someone play it for me after I got back home, as I had to leave early to get Dr. JoAnne Whitaker back home as this was a rough trip for her considering she just recently had a stroke.
Dr. Horowitz song gave laughter to a very serious subject. I hope he never gives up on Medicine and treating Tick Born Illness but if he does, he could become a song writer.
I believe Dr. Steven Phillips covered the findings of Spirochetes in Auto Immune patients and other serious chronic diseases.
Dr. Trevor Marshall discussed the Marshall Protocol as it relates to Lyme Disease. I'm sorry I can't give any great details about DR's Phillips and Marshall.
I will have to wait for the DVD but all the speakers validated each others work. It was a most inspiring conference. Dr. JoAnne and I although both exhausted felt so good for being a part of this great conference.
I can't wait for the DVD and encourage you to order one from the Greater Hartford Lyme Disease Support and Action Group. Randy and everyone involved this was truly one of the most inspirational conferences people came from I believe as far north as NH & Maine and as far south as Florida (Dr. JoAnne and me.)
The Conference was called "30th Anniversary of Lyme Disease with no Compassion Observed!" but the inspiration of the conference inspired so many of us to keep up the fight. Carol Fisch
