It sure can infect sinuses, throat, etc.

Could also be a yeast issue if you've been on abx for a while. Lot's of acidophilus, and freeze-dried garlic away from your abx, about 2 hours.

Possible acid reflux ? Lot's of folks here take Prilosec, nexium, etc.

Constant sinus infections are common with Lyme. I never had one pre-Lyme, but afterward, could count on 4-7 per year. I've been on abx now since Aug 04 for the Lyme. Guess when my last sinus infection was? July 04 (knock loudly on wood).

However, I've also had other odd nose/throat things. Not nec. in order, I have had spasmodic bronchitis - a dry cough where you actually feel your bronchial tubes spasming shut with each cough (muscle relaxers are the treatment, which I didn't get because I guess I didn't describe this to my MD well enough). Laryngitis that didn't take my voice away, it swelled up my vocal chords (Decadron inhaler). An irritation between nose and throat in back which made me cough with every breath, and since you can't stop breathing, that was constant...oral steroids for this (well, they worked). A localized infection in my left nostril - burning pain, dryness, a bit of bleeding. (Add a capsule of Cleocin to Ocean spray was the treatment here.) And perhaps worst of all, months of a "gagging" sensation which my ENT said he felt was neurological in origin (cranial nerves probably).

thanks for your input - I had puenomia Oct 03 when this whole thing started - I had one infiltrat in upper lobe of left lung - this spot has been sore since then. I feel it burn and ake a bit every morning for the last 2 months - April 04 had the sorest throat of my life with lots of spit - lasted 2 months - ENT could not figure it out - now its a constant 3 out of 1-10 pain scale - I am trying to stay away for as many drugs as possiblw - I never had any infections until the lyme set in.

I also had pneumonia, along with a little bit of pneumothorax (collapsed lung - didn't even find this out til I read my old records!) about 5 yrs post-untreated Lyme. My doc suspected it was mycoplasmic pneumonia since it didn't respond to Ceclor, so he put me on e-mycin. This was 1990, not sure if Zithro or Biaxin had been approved yet. Anyway it was in the left lung and since then I have had feelings of tightness and feelings of pneumothorax off and on in that lung.

I've had lots of sinus infections with Lyme as well. They're getting better with treatment, but not completely resolved yet.
