I've known that I'm positive for LD for 2 years. My wife and kids are my concern now. If they're positive, I want to get them treatment right away. My oldest son is 2.5 yrs. The other is 5 months.

My wife has been tested (with a standard blood test at our Dr.) and was negative. However, I realize that those tests are not so great and often are not accurate.

What would your advice be in my situation?

Contact the following lab and have them all tested. www.igenex.com
They can send you the test kits, and have your local hospital draw the blood. Igenex will give you the instructions. No lab is foolproof when testing for lyme, but Igenex is about as close as your going to get.

I would contact Bowen Research Lab. They are in FL. You get the results within 24 hrs. after they receive the blood. They are faxed to your doctor. You then will be pictures of what is in the blood.

We just had a 44 year old die from lyme here in MD. Get yourself tested now. Your wife has it too. She could have passed it on to the little one.

Have your doctor call 1-727-937-9077 and get the kit. Go to www.bowen.org. They were just patented for the lyme test in Jan. 2005. They will test for lyme, babesia, HME, and HGE. They also test for E-coli.

Go to the Pfizer pamphlet to see the pictures of the co-infections that Bowen will show you: www.lymediseaseinformation.com

This is not a disease to play with. Know what you are fighting and have the proof in the pictures.

Much wellness to your family.

Follow NP40 advise. ASAP!

Good luck, keep in mind that not everyone with LD has positive results, observe your children for symptoms.

Take care,
Lymster

symptoms are what is important even when a test reads negative , also most general practioners dont know how to read the protein bands of a lyme test to see if even when the lab says negative the protein bands may read differently

I was the first diagnosed in my family....then my hubby four years into this...doc thinks it was sexually transmitted..he was treated successfully with three months of doxy...We should all be so lucky.

My 18 year old daughter did research with Igenex for her AP Biology course...outer cell protein expression stuff...

She asked to be tested last Fall when her knees started aching. She's really tall, so aching knees at her age aren't out of the question, but we tested her to cover our bases....I honestly didn't think it would come back positive....Silly me....She has lyme and babesia microti....I have lyme anad babesia WA1..

Had my son tested this month....test came back equivocal. We're doing an antibiotic challenge for four days then have the blood work done again to see if the antigen expression is more clear on the western blot for him.

The good part of having your kids tested by the right lab, Igenex, is that you have a base line from a lab that is licensed to do patient testing, rather than investigational or research testing, and is at least recognized by some insurers and all LLMDs.

You can wait til they are on antibiotics for some normal kid thing, then have them tested. You're most likely to get a reliable test that way.

If they do have lyme, you are catching it early and hopefully when it's primarily musculo skeletal rather than neurological....In other words, much easier to treat.

I am terrified of my kids going through what I have been through the last eight years....they will be tested periodically to make sure that they never have to go through my extent of disease involvement.

Bottom line, if they have any symptoms, definitely get them tested...and remember that lyme can present differently in kids. Pre verbal kids can't tell you about the symptoms, so testing is then a good idea anyway.
