Since I've not gotten completely well on orals, I just started IV Rocephin.

After my 4th infusion, the pressure in my head is really strong. Did others with neurolyme experience this?

What did you take to relieve the pressure? My LLMD is out till Wed.

Your "head pressure" could be the beginning of the "herxheimer reaction", but that usually takes longer to kick in (nothing in the lyme world is set in stone, though!).

I wonder if gingko may help this. It has a mild blood thinning effect, and helped me quite a bit.

Most pharmacies these days have either "ginkgold" or :gingkoba" brands of gingko, both of which I found helpful. There were a couple other kinds I tried that didn't seem to have as much of an effect as these.

As much raw garlic as you can eat may help too (unless of course, that quantity is zero, which is somewhat understandable...)

Thank you, Dave. I'll try the gingko along with an aspirin. My husband doesn't want me to try the garlic!!

When you had head pressure, did you also have tremoring or vibrating feelings in your head? Those have increased for me, along with the head pressure.

Hi Tempe. I'm sorry you're having head pressure. I'm there with you. I have brain lesions/neuroborreliosis dx. Rest of me pretty much OK. Month of doxy lessened severity of headaches, trying another month of orals before IV. Headaches are returning.

My LLMD told me to expect a downturn while switching ABX and if head pressure starting getting to me (it IS), give him a call and he would call in some "Diamox." It reduces intercranial pressure.

He says it helps about 50% of his neuro Lyme people.

I hate adding meds to the mix but also hate taking Relpax/Imitrex so I am about ready to give him a call.

Maybe ask him about it?

Good luck.

:-)

Our LLMD also uses Diamox for the head pressure, but it doesn't help her or

doesn't seem to. Daughter hasn't stopped taking it so who knows if her head would

hurt worse if she stopped taking it? She describes her pain as pressure behind her

eyes and her ears hurt. MIchelle, do you go to Dr. H? Have been meaning to ask you that.

That is the only thing I can think of that you might try for your head pressure.

Her LLMD has put her on injections of Rocephin to try and get rid of the head

pressure and of course treat her Lyme. She is also on Mepron and Ketek. Seems the pressure started on the Mepron.

Hopefully you are one of the ones that it will help.

MIchelle, do you go to Dr. H?

Hi, ICEIam. I am in Northern California, with Dr. J.

I'm sorry your daughter isn't helped by Diamox; seems not everyone is, but worth a shot.

One reason I hope it might help me is that weirdly enough, after my lumbar puncture, I had a several-week long "honeymoon" period without headaches, probably because of the reduction of pressure.

Perhaps the Diamox will duplicate that?

Will find out soon!

Michelle
