Last month I had to go off all ATB's due to a low WBC. After a few days an infection manifest and I had to undergo an appendectomy. The infection had been there awhile and I lost my ascending colon also. I was on IV Flagyl, Cipro, and Gentamyacin in the hospital.
Since the surgery, I have been very dizzy and have had constant sweats, especially at night. I feel weaker than ever.
My labs are all good. Surgically, all looks well.
I am avoiding oral ATB's and just started Bi-cillin IM.
So, questions are... 1) anybody out there experience increased lyme symptoms after surgery?
2) Could I be herxing from the IV Flagyl? (It's been a month)
3) What kind of side effects or herxing can I expect from the Bi-cillin?
Thanks!

Hey Bugaboo, another cheesehead here.
Surgery can definitely worsen symptoms, very common. IV Flagyl ? You could herx for a while on that stuff, no doubt. Many here have had very good success with Bicillin.
You can probably expect herxing with almost any med change.

Wow- what a rough time you've had!
I started Bicillin 2.5 weeks ago, I get 1.2 million units IM twice a week.
I have been herxing for a day or two usually about 24-30 hours after the injection. I also take oral ketek and nystatin.
Cipro-Bartonella?????

Thank-you for all your replies. Try as I might not to, I have become hypervigilant in regard to my physical condition. I used to do 10 things at once, now I have too much time to think about myself.
It is comforting to get your responses!
