Dr C wants me to take a break from rocephin to get out of the herx I'm having.
I had told Home Health Company last Tuesday -- both the nurse who brings the rocephin & the director -- that I had an appointment with Dr C yesterday, and not to make any new rocephin until I called this morning to let them know if he was keeping me on it.
Their pharmacist made it yesterday anyway. Now they are telling me they want to bring it today, and I should just freeze it until I'm ready to use it.
Is it ok to freeze rocephin, and then thaw it for use? Or are they just trying to save having to lose money on the batch of rocephin they already made??
I guess this shows how much my trust in the medical industry has been damaged by all we lymies get put through!!!

Probably best to call another pharmacist. Or, better yet, the manufacturer.

PS If you are not able to get comfortable with the idea of freezing Rocephin, just tell them so, remind them that you had given instructions not to make another batch until further notice, and refuse to accept it.

I always picked up my Rocephin frozen. My nurse put it in her freezer when it arrived from the supplier. I put it in the fridge to thaw out. You cannot re-freeze it once it thaws out. But, you can store it frozen.

Good Morning Tempe,
Freezing is fine- I think the allotted time period is up to 6 months (but, you may want to double check that one)
