After 14 months of numbness & tingling I've suddenly developed burning feelings. It started a few weeks ago when a spot on the side of my neck felt irritated & burning. Now there is a red spot on the front of my neck that feels the same way. One knuckle also feels burned. It is a little swollen and if I didn't have Lyme I would think I had a mild burn.

I know I didn't burn it though and it has felt this way for days. My fingertips started to go numb today and have occaisional burning feelings too.

Anyone else with "burning" symptoms?

I used to get that all the time. For me, my ears would burn like crazy and turn red, feel like sunburn. My facial flushing was horrible too.
treatment for Lyme & Babesia took it away for good. make sure you check to see if you have Babesia. :-) You will be okay. [Cool]

Hi there hatsnscarfs,

The only time I experienced burning was when I was on Minocycline.

Needless to say, I can't take it. I had burning in my carotid artery area of the neck and chest.

Also had other bad symptoms.

Pain, numbness and tingling in my hands is almost a daily thing for me. Some days it's worse than others. Also have it in my feet.

Never had the burning feeling though.

Hope this helps out. [Smile]

Hats,

I've seen the burning skin sensation on lists of symptoms for bartonella in addition to other symptoms.
Bart is also responsible for neuro symptoms.

I was going to say nerve pain, until you mentioned the red spot and swollen knuckle.

My ears used to turn bright red and get very, very hot. It was a really uncomfortable feeling. I don't get it anymore....I'm not sure if was Lyme or Babesia, but we think both are gone.

Red, burning knuckles is a pretty common arthritic symptom. So it isn't unheard of. Maybe plaquenil would help? It reduced the swelling and stiffness in my hands.

Yes, I have burning also and so severe that my doctor is puzzled. My scalp burns along with the front of my neck and the spinal column. This is definitely a Lyme symptom and I've seen several neurologists for this who all want to put me on neurontin which I tried and could not take due to side effects. It comes and goes but when I get it it is really bad I become distressed and I can't seem to find anything that helps. Someone told me that it is the neurotoxins that are causing this but when I went on treatment for this it didn't go away. Very uncomfortable and annoying but I hope it goes away with treatment.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Aniek, I am on plaquenil. It scares me to think what the pain level in my joints would be if I wasn't on it!

Chainsaw J. How are you doing. I'm still making progress on P&B. Next visit with Dr. D. is early Nov. Dreading going back on tetra.

amkdiaries, neurotoxins could be the cause. The burning spot on the side of my neck started when I was on my 2 week vacation without a bathtub. I missed my frequent epsom salt soaks. I used podi patches every night and soaked my feet in Epsom salts but the toxins built up.

Now I soak in Epsom salt almost everyday before work. The baths used to be draining but now they are energizing.

I get it also, and I have been treated for Babesia, 8 months of Mepron/Artemesia, which I finished in March/April this year; so I am guessing it can be Lyme also producing that symptom.

I also have it on my face for the last 2 weeks or so, a mixture of feeling of sunburn, or like that scorched feeling you get after you burn your tongue, mixed with a little stinging and 'numb' feeling. My cheeks even look slapped, especially left side.

I don't know if you get this also, but I get 'chills' (not the shaking kidn you get with fever) but like an icy-hot feeling with goosebumps.

It might be Bartonella, do you have that that you are aware of? I do, and have not yet been properly treateed for it.

I have not been tested or treated for Bartonella. What are other symptoms to watch for.

Daughter has Babs and Bart, she gets the burning sensations on her cheeks real bad, they turn

bright red and look sun burned. She also has spots that feel like she touched a hot stove, but there is no burn there. She says these come and go.

Seems lots of people have these symptoms.

H&S:

If you've been on Plaquenil for any extended period of time, and maybe combined it with one of the tetracyclines - then you know that it depletes vitamin B. And depletes is very quickly.

You may also avoid supplements while on abx.

I had that burning migrating pain- sometimes so bad I really could NOT stand it. I could never decide whether it was neurological or not. It was not a herx, because I had it as a symptom for years. Since I'm a little more educated now on Lyme, and the central nervous system, I think it's a form of peripheral neuropathy - .
I used to feel like someone lit a bunsen burner in side some quadrant of my body, then turn the flame up - or fire would shoot down a nerve -

Vitamin B and Magnesium/calcium are extremely important are are protective of the sheath that protects nerve endings.

When you are on a break from abx - try sublingual coenzyme B complex (this'll get into your system even if you have an absorption problem) And add Magnesium and calcium.

And if you ever start etting lesions in the mouth (like the skin sloughing off the gums or
the insides of your cheeks looking like a strawberry - get some B complex into you.
