My 11yo daughter has been battling lyme for some time now. She is on Biaxin XR and Omnicef.
She seems to herx every 2 weeks for 2 weeks and then it seems on week 3 she starts to feel a little better and on week 4 she feels really good and then back to square one.
She is very sad and frustrated that she CANNOT participate in anything. She is particularly sad that she missed a whole year of riding her pony and now she is afraid it is going on a 2nd year.
It is very hard to find the positives here. To her only a week of feeling good is not something to be hopeful about.
this is NOT the way a child should grow up!!

Poor baby! A yr and counting is so long for a child!
At least as adults,( I will speak for myself), at 40 and counting a yr and more is not so much as a loss as I have done much of what I want to do in life. And of course, the more yrs lived the more faith and perseverance has already been built.
I say you will be much better by spring, you will get your energy back, you will be healed until I am blue in the face. Can't tell at time if it is helping.
It is so hard on child and on MOM!
Your daughter will definitely be an amazing person on the other side of this but in the thros--ugh!

Both of my kids and I have lyme and a cocktail of coinfections.
My daughter is 19 and in her freshman year of college and it's so hard to watch her herx and cycle through her symptoms while other kids are out playing and experiencing their first year away from home.
She's often exhausted and in pain, has to stay in when other kids go out, has to balance her school work with her illnesses. It breaks my heart.
The toll is high physically as well as emotionally. She deserves to have the college experience. She deserves to be able to remember what she is learning! She deserves to have fun with her classmates.
She's a good kid, doesn't drink or party hardy. Just staying up too late can set her back a few days.
My son is in highschool and can't play baseball or concentrate like he should.
How do our kids explain all this to their friends? and teachers? It's hard...they all deserve much better...
