My son's test came back positive for Bartonella Henselae on his IgG with a titer of 1:64
I know IgG shows past infection but.............
I have to wonder this test was done thru Quest. It is the only coinfection that any of us 6 have come back positive for.
It says it should be rerun in 2-4 weeks per Quest to look for the presence of IgM conversion.
He has had 3 PCR's for Bart all negative but did come back showing Bart thru EDS (elctro-dermal screening).
He doesn't have swollen glands or eye issues per
se. BUT HE DOES HAVE SEVERE FATIGUE. Which I
can't stop thinking about Tincup's Bartonella
Alert Post. Which mentions Infectious
Mononucleosis-like Syndrome.
His LLMD thinks it is past infection.
But I can't help but wonder. Anyone have any information please....I have done all the searches and came up with nothing. Thanks so much, lyme x 8
PS: We have always had Cats!

I had Bartonella and it is a nasty. Very nasty. I got mine via a tickbite, very popular via cows. There is hardly a cow that is not infected today. My doctor did an extensive study. They could not find a cow in this country that is not infected with Lyme, but Bartonella is often dominant. My doctor described it briefly as follows in his last 3-day seminar for medical professionals where all this was discussed extensively:
"B. henselae is the most commonly found intra-cellular coinfection today found in RBC's, endothelial cells, bone marrow and macrophages. 70% of the cats in Italy are infected with it )cat scratch disease); cat-to-human transfer is common. Bartonella quintana brought down Napoleon's troops in Russia, the true cause for his defeat. The microbes are found today in this troops' teeth in the mass graves. They are survivors - almost a couple hundred years later!
Symptoms:
Swollen lymph glands Endocarditis hepatitis neovacularization fatigue low grade fever jaw bone cavitations devitalized teeth often co-infection in ALS fibromyalgia and joint pain
Therapy: think Zithro, Doxy and Rifampin or Polygonum and Stephania Root"
I had all but the hepatitis and the fatigue. All treated successfully and I don't have a symptom left. Have been well for a few years now. So it can be done.
Good luck and take care.

Gigi, What do you mean when you say it is a co-infection in ALS?? Does that mean that people with ALS often have this co-infection as well as ALS or that it causes ALS-like symptoms?
I am interested in this since I just tested positive for Bart and I continue to suspect that I may have ALS...

I, too, have read that the horrible fatigue can be bart......or babs. My son did not test positive for either coinfection but he has unbelievable fatigue and since treatment - beginning 8/05 - this fatigue has not budged. He had some eye twitching and the daily below grade fevers as his presenting symptoms.....brain fog, too. I can't say he is much better which leads me to think it is underlying babs.
