I read on this forum some conflicting information regarding vitamins and supplements, so I am hoping you fine people can help clarify the confusion!

Can I take a multivitamin while on abx?

Can I take supplements (like magnesium, calcium, coenzyme Q10, B12, Quercitin, ALA, papaya enzymes) while on antibiotics?

Yes, No, maybe???? HELP a sister out here!! [confused]

Depends on you and your docs point of view.

Mine says no vitamins but my calcium and magnesium are ok just 3 hrs either side of the antibiotics. No coq10, b, c, e vitamins

I dont know about the others you listed.

I quit taking almost everything. They never did me any good anyway.

If your deficient in a supplement they are definitely needed imo. Sounds like you weren't. The question is how can we tell if we are or are not deficient? Disease in general will deplete our system so I'm on some supplements.
whys everything got to be so complicated

Differing opinions FOR SURE!
Read Dr B's guidelines in Treepatrol's newbie links.

He recommneds SPECIFIC vitamins and brands.

I am trying to get info on this too in a separarte thread. I would like to know:

If people are using his protocol of vitamins and the co he recommends: Pharmenex?

Have they seen any difference?

Where do they purchase Pharmenex products the cheapest?

My understanding is that Pharmanex is MLM. There is someone on this board who is a Pharmanex rep who has offered the maximum discount to Lymies.

It has been a while so I am sorry that I do not remember which member is offering this.

Search "pharmanex discount" and perhaps it will come up.

I am fairly anemic and need iron supplements. Plus I have myoclonic jerking which may be due to malabsorption of magnesium or B12.

So, here are more questions (sorry!):

1. How am I supposed to get those nutrients above from food alone?
2. How are we supposed to detox our livers from the antibiotics with things like Milk Thistle, etc. if we can't take them WHILE we are on the abx????

YES!!!

Take but dont take them at the same time as antibiotics.
Always take any suppliments at least 2 hours after or before 3 hrs better.

Say you take your abx at 7am dont take your suppliments until 9am but 10am would be better.

I definitely think they provide value and I take several. You can see the full list on the treatment page of my site below. I agree that magnesium needs to be taken apart from doxy, and there are other things like no milk thistle or COQ-10 while on Mepron, etc.

Be well,
