I had a PICC in for 7 weeks, it was pulled at the end of December. During the time it was in, my arm got squished and I was left with some pain where the vein is, about halfway between my elbow and shoulder (not at the insertion site in the crook of the elbow, which was fine).
It has been 2 months since the line was pulled, and I still have pain in that location. Not all the time, it starts to hurt when I do certain things like put a shirt on or roll over in bed. I have seen two doctors who have told me it's just scar tissue and it will go away, and that I should massage it.
It is not phlebitis, I have no other symptoms except pain when I use my arm in a certain way.
I have been trying to baby the arm and massage it, but it is not getting any better. Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks, P

It took my arm about two years to heal. My scar tissue was very thick in that area from 6 weeks IV. In fact that was my best blood sucking area and after IV, they couldn't use that area due to the thick scar tissue.
Today they can get to that gusher vein again.
