We know particular antibiotics & prescription drugs are hard on the liver. We also know milk thistle is supposed to support the liver (I take Super Thisylin by Nature's Way -- milk thistle plus dandelion, NAC, ALA, Vit A & C, dried broccoli & asparagus).

What Supplements are hard on the liver? Because I've developed liver pain and yellowed skin, I need to avoid them.

Supplements I had been taking that were HELPING me recover from STARI are:

Oregano Oil
Olive leaf extract
Lauricidin
Vitamin B Complex
Reishimax
Wellness Formula Immune Defense
Probiotics
Fish Oil
Ambrotose by Mannatech (aloe vera gel, gum acacia, manapol powder, oat fiber, brown macroalgae, vegetarian glucosamine-HCI, ghatti gum, gum tragacanth,, xylitol)

Thank you for any information you have about the effect of any of these on the liver.

You will likely need to look each herb up in various references such as:
PDR Health Natural Medicines Indexed by Common Name

Also, internet searching, keeping in mind the source of the information is so as to try to determine credibility. Some useful books:
A-Z guide to drug-herb-vitamin interactions and The Natural Pharmacy.

From the research that I've done, in general, anything that kills bacteria, viruses, fungus ect. has the potential to be hard on the liver. When bacteria die, they release endotoxins. The liver must work to process those toxins.

If your detoxification system becomes overburdened you will start to accumulate toxins. This accumulation will make you progressively sensitive to other chemicals, even those that are not normally toxic.

For more on the liver:
Detoxifying the Body - The Liver

This is my husband's site for which I have researched various issues, the liver being one. I am not a doctor.
