I started Plaquenil & Biaxin tonight (second time on this combo). When I started it for the first time last spring the first day was really tough. I was very nauseated, had a horrible taste in my mouth, had mental changes, could not think clearly... It took several days to adjust.
Tonight I took the first dose and so far feel fine. Nothing like last year.
The first time I was on tetra it made coffee taste like turpentine. I quit coffee! It made tea taste sweet. It affected my taste the whole time I was on it. When I did tetra the second time around it did not affect my taste at all!
I was really scared last year when I started P&B because I read about so many side effects others had. It turned out not to be so bad. We are all so different.
Have you had different reactions to the same drug? Have you been able to tolerate a drug you couldn't tolerate the first time? hats

I think the only thing hubby has repeated is quinine and clindamycin.
Definitely different reactions.
1st time -- no herx -- felt better from 1st quinine pill -- muscles worked better and resumed walking for exercise -- effect started
wearing off in 2 months, but continued meds for 2 more months. Also significant decrease in number of daily seizure-like episodes for 2 months only.
This time -- rotated off to Amoxycillin after just 4 days instead of 10 days -- really needed a break -- entire body aches (inflammation relieved slightly by ibuprofen), mild headaches,
shooting pains in the spine and other nerve pains, sweat constantly, one shaking chill, scalp felt like was sunburned --
all NEW symptoms -- 90% gone now after 3 days on Amoxcillin. Not exactly looking forward to next 10 days.
