I just had the opportunity of viewing Comcast ( Northeastern Markets) Comcast 8 network , who happen to have a program on Lyme Disease.
The physician they interviewed was Dr Kenneth MacIntosh from Children Hospital in Boston.
What an interesting program. According to the physician, when the commentator ask, since, she lived in the city, did she have anything to worry about, the response was " no".
He thought that Lyme disease in most stages could be treated with antibiotics. The doctor also advocated that the classic bulleyes rash is standard. That it was okay not to catch in the first few days. There was no mention of coinfections.
They repeatidly indicated that tall brush and grass were culprits: that more forest and woodlands areas were to blame. They did not indicate that most tick bites happen in the geometric proximity of the home: ie, your backyard.
There was a reference to Lyme being common on the east coast, but , he thought the midwest and beyond not common.
When ask where Lyme diseas occured, another individual who was an author and a hiker refered to CDC for the map for the statistics, which we know is about 10 per cent of the actual cases.
Physician also thought it was harder to confirm Lyme in later stages as since it mimics other things, it actually could be another disease and being blammed falsely on Lyme.
Incidently, the physician's specialty is Infectious Disease.
I can't believe the fallacies that are still being propogated.
Comcast is getting a response from me.
