Such as swollen joints, encepahlopathy, changes on on an MRI, etc? Just wondering. All my sx are completely subjective. Nothing the dr. can see or measure.

Thanks,
Cutie

I would probably venture to guess that most people with Lyme have little visible evidence. I like you had a negative MRI, no swollen joints (arthralgia was present), and no bullseye, etc. That is one of the reasons it is hard to get the ducks to treat or believe you have Lyme. I have had three doctors tell me if I had Lyme my knees would be the size of cantaloupes.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to convince your PCP or other doctors you have Lyme. A LLMD can tell by the symptoms and will order much better tests.

I had all kinds of objective things wrong with me, and the doctors still didn't treat me, or test me for Lyme. Go with the LLMD.

Hubby did and still does have abnormal MRI -- no other objective neuro signs so neuros ignore MRI -- most infamous comment was "You have a beautiful brain!!!" -- had 4 or 5 brain lesions at the time.

Most likely had encephalopathy in the hospital once -- unconscious for 15 hours one day, very confused and abnormal EEG's -- neuro tried to say somatization disorder, but psych consultant was totally confused and didn't diagnose anything but still wanted hubby to sign himself in to psych ward voluntarily!!!

Have had many docs argue with me that hubby wasn't really losing consciousness -- didn't matter that EMS had to carry him out on a stretcher numerous times.

Objective signs don't mean much if the docs have already made up their minds -- you are either a psych case if you have ever taken an antidepressant or you are doctor shopping or another lovely phrase is polypharmacy.

Very few docs know how to diagnose patients -- even non-Lyme patients. If you do not fit the standard textbook description of some disease then forget about getting help from standard AMA docs.

If you want to get help and get well get to an LLMD and/or an ACAM doctor (American College for Advancement in Medicine). At least docs in these 2 groups will listen and try to find the root cause of an illness.
