Hi All,
I just replied to a note from Lesley about the red subcutaneous lumps that have appeared on my lower legs the past 6 to 8 weeks. After 4 years of Lyme tx, this has showed up, just when i was starting to feel real good and get a life. how disheartening.
My initial testing by Igenex showed Bb positive (CDC positive) and negative for Babs and Bart, but, that was long before all this started.
As stated, i have a cat that takes to biting me on occasion and i'm sure this is where i picked up the infection. (declawed, but, Bart no doubt present in saliva?)
In addition to getting rid of this pesky critter, can you all advise the best lab for Bart testing? i'm not aware that igenex has a bart panel.
any and all opinions and info is greatly appreciated.

I was originally tested for Bart through IGeneX along with all the other coinfections. But then my LLMD and I wanted to pursue some more specific Bartonella strain testing and we used MDL Labs in New Jersey.
If you go to the MDL website and download the lab test order form you will see all the Bartonella tests they have.
On our CaliforniaLyme yahoo group, there was the post the other day about a person who contracted Bartonella from her cat, although the cat had been noticeably sick for quite some time but the vet never tested for Bart.
I actually contracted Lyme and all the coinfections while feeding a cat who happened to be sitting on ticks, which I didn't realize. So as much as many of us love dogs and cats, there are risks involved.
Take care, Jill
