I saw a rerun of that show "House" - it is one of my favorite shows because I think we all would love to think we could have a team of doctors on our cases figuring out what is wrong with us!

Anyway, the one dealt with a woman who had a liver tumor and it turned out it was caused by birth control pills. That is exactly what they found in me several years ago...it is called an adenoma and it is a benign tumor caused by taking birth control pills. I went off of them and the tumor went away within 14 months.

In case any of you are on the Pill, I thought I would throw that one out there as a remote risk. I don't know how common it is, but it was kind of strange to see my affliction as the subject of the show.

Maybe they will do Lyme??

House did do an episode on Lyme Disease. I can't remember much these days.....but here is what I do remember.

It was a teenage girl who kept having anaphylatic reactions to things...House eventually found a tick on her, hiding in her public hair. It was quite melodramatic, but at least it mentioned that Lyme can cause bizarre symptoms.

I love House because I wish I could get away with telling people what I really think like he does!

Klutzo-

I saw that episode -- it wasn't actually lyme the girl had, it was tick paralysis. At least it brought some awareness to TBDs as a serious threat.

And yes, it was melodramatic.

I love House! Basically because I find him absolutely hilarious...its nice to see a doctor who will try anything and everything until the patient is well...even if it is fiction [Smile]

Lyme has been mentioned on the show several times by House actually.

eewww! Last night I dreamed a tick was crawling around under my skin. I could see his outline. He finally made it to a scab where I dug in and pulled him out. He was already enlarging with my blood. YUUUUUCCCCCKKKK!

For some reason this post made me remember that dream. ugghh.

Yess, I remember the episode where they thought it was Lyme but it wasn't. Lyme is mentioned a lot in "house" and "Mystery Diagnosis" but there hasn't been a "House" episode where it ended up being Lyme. I'm waiting for that one!

I saw a show last night about ER stories and this woman literally had bugs in her scalp. It was nasty.

Public hair or pubic hair? Thanks for the chuckle! [lol]

I remember that episode. He mentioned Lyme but they didn't test for it!

http://www.housemd-guide.com/season2/216safe.php

Isn't the hospital supposed to be in New Jersey? Wherever it is, it's a Lyme endemic region.

I couldn't believe that they didn't test her for it. Oops! I'm sounding like it really happened. [Embarrassed]

I remember thinking that a great story line would be the girl coming back to the hospital in a few years(seasons)with symptoms of chronic lyme disease, then yelling at House for not testing for Lyme two years ago!
