Just got this from a friend:

quote:

anyway her daughter has been having joint pain... just got diagnosed w lyme disease - caught it very early - has her on a course of antibiotics --
any WISDOM FOR THIS ,..... THANKS"
quote:

Is there EVER a time when a "course of abx" is enough?

I'm thinking joint pain would be later but then my lyme is like 100 years old (well, since I was a kid) and have had joint pain since my 20's.

So how do I answer this - get to an LLMD ASAP?

Sandy

For the most comprehensive treatment of this subject, take a look at the ILADS guidelines/burasscano's diagnostic/treatment document.

I believe (but you better check, the documents are avialble on line here or at canlyme.com) in there is something like 6 weeks for early Lyme.

If Ilads says different, please post it here.

Hi karatelady,

I would take this child's pain seriously.

I was bit one week, developed pain in my hips in less than a week. I was shuffling around like an old lady. I got a second tick bite one week later. I developed a rash then.

I developed a sore neck, restless leg, painful ankle, and extensive brain deficiencies within 2 weeks of the first bite.

I could explain away all my symptoms, but it was too coincidental that they all happened within 2 weeks of the 1st bite.

I was diagnosed with Lyme by a LLMD and have been on antibiotics....started them when the rash was only 2 days old. I still am not normal. I feel better when on antibiotics. I feel terrible when off the antibiotics.

I also caught babesiosis.

Urge your friend to get an LLMD fast.

I am going to refer them here so they can read these answers and look up the websites.

Thanks again and I hope we will be seeing them over here.

If I had it to do over.
I would want doxy first: 3 weeks with {flagyl or tinny} then {Pennicillin VK or Biaxin} and {flagyl or tinny} for 8 weeks. And finally a good anerobic abx for a month.

If I only had a do over.

Unless there would be a new abx on the market that kicked butt.

whoops I forgot I would be taking Magnesium as much as I could take, and cq10 and massive amount of B complex vitamin, multi and & maybe rudolia
