Hi, I called Igenex this morning and the woman there said my doctor had to know which tests to order. The doctor who agreed readily to sign the form is my ob/gyn...who doenst know what tests to order. I know at the very least the IGG, IGM western blot. But my other choices are the panel for IGM, IGG, and PCR. The panel 6050 which includes the first three option and adds an IFA. Then there is just the IGG, IGM western blot. If that isn't confusing enough...and I did read, "what tests to order" the site said if you have had it for awhile to test for urine antigen assays but you need antibiotics first?? I have to go for the least I can get away with..due to finances.
I suspect (if it is lymes) that I have had it for awhile. I have some neuro sx...imbalance, muscle twitches, numbness tingling of legs. I have not been on any antibiotics since AUG, which was for toxoplasmosis. On another post someone questioned whether you had to be on antibiotics first to sitmulate the buggers...or off antibiotics to get a accurate reading? I do not and wont be able to get an appt with a LLMD for months either. any suggestion? Many thanks again.

Information on some of the testing I would suggest for people with Lyme can be found below.
These would include:
Panel 6050 from IgeneX which includes Western Blots, the new Lyme IFA, and PCR. I would also get a comprehensive co-infection panel done as well. I would look at the Complete Co-Infection Panel which is panel 5090 and then add 710 which is specific for the WA-1 form of Babesia. That will cover all the coinfections.
Cost 6050 - $450 Cost 5090 - $630 Cost 710 - $65
If you are chronic and have had time for your immune-system to be suppressed, I would do the CD57 test. A fantastic article on the test can be found here:
Those would be my two main things to look at for Lyme specifically. Then, of course, ART, EAV, etc. can be helpful.
I would also definitely do a good heavy metal urine challenge test and a good parasite test. All too often, people focus to much on just the Lyme and in my opinion miss many of the other important things that are also going on.

O.k, I went to read a LLMD in NY protocols on testing...Said WB, and anitgen capure and PCR in chronic lyme seronegative pt...that often only the antigen test are the positive markers...or something to that affect. But I also see you need to be on anitbiotics first for awhile to do the urine antigen test..which rules me out anyway. And to do a PCR you should be antibiotic free for 6 weeks at least. Sorry trying to work thru this w/o a LLMD at this point. So at the very least I should get the IGM, IGG and PCR. Anyone know if the IFA should be obtained too? 390.00 vs. 450, YIKES!! I won't be testing for any coinfections at this time...to costly as it is. thanks for all the info

Remember, dear Kumba.
You don't KNOW that you're "seronegative."
You're just Quest-negative.
HUGE difference!!
You could be bloomin' positive as all get-out on your western blot.
I was. So are many others. Don't put much stock in the Quest thing. They couldn't find a tick in a bag.
Get IgM and IgG, PCR if you can squeeze it, and don't worry about the rest till another day.

Stick with #188-IGM WB, #189 IGG WB To start- $190. The urine antigen test and the IFA are not available to NYC residents. Neither is the Babesia WA-1, Bartonella PCR. Not sure if you are a resident or just live in NY. Be sure to check the fine print on the bottom of the Test order form.
