As most of you know I had my GB taken out last August. Things seemed to be going pretty good for a while and then the last few weeks i have had some weird pain again. Most of it is just a little lower than where the GB was located but it definately radiates to the back. I had a CT scan done last week and I don't have the results of that back yet. I wonder what could be causing this bizarre flare in the area.
I don't know if its a flare up from after the surgery or what.

Sorry to hear. I'm dealing with some of the same pain, only it radiates up the front in me, not the back.
My gallbladder tests keep turning out ok. But my pancreatic enzymes are high. My LLMD said it could be pain from the pancreas.
She also said there is sometimes pain from a duct spasming that will continue even if the gallbladder is removed. The pain mimics gallbladder pain.
I've also read that if a stone got stuck in the pancreatic duct, in can cause the same pain. Sometimes a stone is there and they don't notice when they remove the gallbladder.

I'm sorry that you're dealing with pain in the GB area again. I was really hoping that the surgery would finally be the solution you needed.
I haven't had GB surgery (my sister-in-law did a few months ago), but I'm wondering if a little scar tissue could do this?
I presume you keep having your liver enzymes checked and all that. I did have liver aching when I had liver problems from Ketek. Given that the liver and GB are in the same area, it can be a little confusing to figure out which is which.
I hope you get some answers to this mystery!

I had my gallbladder removed in March of '99. When I was pregnant with my second child,(Feb 2003) I started getting pain, reflux, etc. like I did when I had gall stones.
I told my OB that I felt like I was having gall bladder attacks, but wait....I don't have a gall bladder anymore.
At 36 wks of pregnancy, I was hospitalized for pancreatitis. Very Painful!!!
After being kept off all oral food/liquids for 4 days, it resolved.
The GI MD surmised that when they took my GB out, a stone was left in the common bile duct.
I've had 2 pancreatitis attacks since then. As a matter of fact I thought I was having pancreatic attacks before I was dx with Lyme.
Blood work did not support pancreatitis.
They did want to scope me to look for a stone in my pancreas or common bile duct, but couldn't as I was very pregnant.
This may be an option for you. Hope you get some relief soon.

I do have my liver and pancreatic levels checked monthly. I assume a comprehensive metabolic test covers those things right? I should hear the resutls of my CT scan tomorrow. Enzyme levels are always very normal so we'll see once.
