I've been on abx for three months. Four weeks ago, I switched from doxy to amox/zith combo for the summer months.
During the abx change, I started having allergy like symptoms. Itchy skin, head congestion, swollen throat, and breathing issues. I thought it was the abx, stopped them after a week, and continued with the doxy again.
These allergy issues have not gone away. It has been almost five weeks. I've been on allegra during this time which has helped the itching and head congestion, but the throat clearing and breathing issues are lingering.
Is it possible these new allergies could be related to yeast and not to lyme? I have many yeast symptoms but many yeast symptoms are the same as lyme symptoms so I'm thoroughly confused as to what to do and how to approach this subject with my doctor.
Any ideas?

It is good to determine for sure if you have yeast because the treatment for lyme (abx) is the cause of yeast.
Leaky Gut will allow yeast into your body and will cause you to be very sick. Sherry Rogers MD authored the book "Pain Free in 6 Weeks" says you will never get well until you heal your leaky gut.
Ask your doctor if he knows how to test for leaky gut and yeast.

You can order test kits from Great Plains Lab or Metametrix called the Organic Acids Test or OAT. It tests for substances in your urine that are only created by yeast and not by your body. A few years ago, the test was about $200.
It will give you a wealth of information. For instance, mine told me I needed Antifungals, 6 probiotics per day and branched-chain amino acids. It also told me the various levels of about 20 different things.. One was malic acid. It was high. I was taking supplements of malic acid at the time. My selenium was low, etc.
It is a worthwhile test. Just google those names I gave you and you will find quite a bit of good info.
Yeast overgrowth is serious and like you said, will cause many similar symptoms. FOr years, I treated yeast overgrowth, but never got cured. Then I found out Lyme was suppressing my immune system which allowed the yeast to overgrow. It gets to be a vicious cycle.
You can also treat yeast overgrowth with enzymes. Check your local healthfood store. Take good refrigerated probiotics, too.

PB,
I would find a good doctor trained in nutrition to help you here. Self-treating is hit and miss. My doctor and the tests he runs are covered by my insurance.
The treatment mostly is not covered.

I did one year of caprylic acid before I started abx. It killed the yeast and all my allergies disappeared. I used to have... breathing problems, hayfever, watery eyes, sneezing, itching(feet & hands), sore throat, etc.
My husband and sons had allergies too, but when we all got a yeast free diet, and started taking supplements to kill the yeast we all no longer had allergies.
I even took my son to a allergy specialist, who basically told me to get rid of all the carpet in the house, our cats, and to vacuum 2 - 3 times a day (ya right).
Its be over three years and no more allergies!
The one thing that may have brought yours out is being on zithro, it is one of the hardest abx on yeast. Theres no cheating on zith. You have to really watch your diet and take LOTS of probiotics, nystatin, diflucan, coconut oil, etc.

Do you have the book, The Yeast Connection by Dr. Crook? It is a very good book.
