Any allergic reaction would be extremely rare! I remember when I started IV, I was worried about the PICC and the Rocephin, and a possible herx.
The PICC was no problem. I had a few MILD herxes in the first few days, no big deal at all. Then, I didn't have any more - I just continued to get better and better.
This is coming from someone who had MAJOR neuro symptoms when starting IV. So - relax and take it easy.

I'm a rocephin newbie too. I'm on day 10. I felt great for about 4 days then started feeling flu-like - Hot, sweating, low-grade fever, some tingling, moderate headaches. I'm using it for major neuro probs. I've been on orals for 1.5 yrs prior, so I think I've got at least some of the buggers out of my body -- just need to get past the bbb. Today I started the sensitive/crying thing I do when I herx, but it is not as bad as I've had...
I just hope it really really really does the trick for us. I know it doesn't do it for everyone but I am just hoping hoping hoping.
I'm taking tindamax as well with the hopes of cracking open the cysts too.
Tomorrow is another day.
I have a midline and it is suprisingly comfortable -- barely know it's there except when I bathe (which I try not to do now).

It went very well. No complications what so ever. I have a short term little IV thing in my arm right now (and willl have for a few days), so that is not too confortable, but I am doing well.
My stabbing pains have gotten exponentialy worse, but out side of 10 sec of breathtaking pain every so often, I am having a VERY good day. No joint pain or any real brain fog. Its pretty cool.
I know It is only the first day, but I really feel I am going to be able to handle the IV stuff, and I am confident I am going to get better! I'm not letting anything stop me.
Thank you all SO much! The information on this site has been amazingly helpful, and really prepared me for today and what I have to do to get better. And the support here is amazing!

Sounds like you have a peripheral IV.
I had a peripheral IV-4 days on Rocephin, then pulled the IV for 3 days, then got another IV for 4 days on , 3 days off-.
I responded well to the Rocephin and now have a picc-which is a longer IV catheter stitched into my arm and stays in for however long I will be getting IV Rocephin.
Rocephin has made the most difference for me so far. Good Luck. Carol

So glad all went well for you, skyler. I hope everything continues to get better and better from here!!
Hubby has been on IV Primaxin for 11 days now. Today is the first day I felt like he was having a bit of a herx. He had been feeling really good and looking really good. Came home tonight with that "flat out exhausted" look to him again.
I just hope this doesn't last long.
I'm encouraged by so many who say the IV Abx really helped them.
Best wishes to all.

Thank you all SO SO SO SO VERY VERY MUCH for all the helpfull info.
They put in a peripheral IV (thanks cobweb!) but I will be getting a picc. Right now I am getting my infusions at my doctors office and will be for about a week. Then I will be getting my picc and taking care of it myself.
I am pretty happy with how all fo this is going. Right now I feel really good. Just a few stabbing pains which are SOOOOO much more painfull than I have ever had in the past and a lot longer. But still I feel great.
I AM SO HAPPY that there is hope for me. I have lived 12 years like this, with no releife, no help, just pain that stole my life away. I never thought I could get better. I never ever expected to get past this, live on my own, drive a car, go to college, and now all of this is possible! Now there is a chance I might just be able to exist on my own, grow up, live...
I really thought I was going to die of this, and then I found lymenet, and found out all this information that got me to a diagnosis! and now... now there is hope.
