First of all, we all would agree that IF lyme is so easily diagnosed and cured, there would be NO need for a lyme vaccine.
In 2005, one year before the new IDSA Guidelines were published, here is what Dattwyler says about his patent:
"Currently, Lyme Disease is treated with a range of antibiotics, e.g., tetracyclines, penicillin and cephalosporins. However, such treatment is not always successful in clearing the infection.
Treatment is often delayed due to improper diagnosis with the deleterious effect that the infection proceeds to a chronic condition, where treatment with antibiotics is often not useful.
One of the factors contributing to delayed treatment is the lack of effective diagnostic tools."

Vaccines are one of the BIGGEST sellers raking in $$$$$$ for Big Pharma.
If you were Dattwyler would you want to wait until there were so many people suffering with chronic lyme that people were clammoring for a vaccine??? OF COURSE YOU WOULD!
IMO, that is what he is waiting for and would account for his and his buddies downplay of any successes with long term treatment.
Anyone else agree with me?

Wish I could figure out just WHAT their real agenda is....the many WHY questions each time they knock this disease down a notch.

They lie, or spin, or engage in truthiness, depending on their goal--Federal funding, PR, or just plain old drumming up business. Their "studies" are full of contradictions, but hardly anybody reads the actual studies, so they don't get caught. Most of us are stiuck reading abstracts, older abstracts. Its what in a less polite but more honest time was called bull****.

Vaccines have very low margins and very high risk. That is why most of big Pharma has no interest in making vaccines and we are in the mess we are in with seasonal flu vaccine shortages, etc.
