I read some old posts about how staying on antibiotics may or may not affect Western blot results, seems like there's little consensus. So I'm curious what people's actual experiences are.

For anyone that has had a Lyme Western blot both on and then off antibiotics, was there a significant difference in results?

(I know there are many other variables, just curious about this one for now)

Thanks!

Hi.

When I called Igenex to order test kits for my family members,

I was told that being on antibiotics for 28 days followed by no meds for 10 days was

Optimal for positive bands showing up.

Hope this helps some.

Hugs,

Geneal

I agree...I would stay off 10 days to 2 wks.

My LLMD is re-testing me and I am taking 2 abx.
He doesn't care that I am on abx and thinks if anything it will show a stronger positive.
I would trust him on this as he has experience.

Hi.

I was tested by Igenex WB while on a tetracycline for 3-4 months. It was positive on IgG by Igenex criteria. IgM was very nearly positive, 2 bands were IND instead of +.

I didn't have a test while not on ABX, so I can't compare.
