This is a good combo for hitting babs.
You may experience several herxes before you symptoms start to lift. I would recommend checking your liver once a month, detoxing, and watch your hearing. If you notice an increase in buzzing contact your llmd so you do not suffer hearing loss.
Some malaria meds also cause anxiety and depression, so if you start getting the blues you know what it is.
Good luck.

I have a script for Mepron, but it hasn't been filled yet - Malarone, too.
But as far as zith goes, it does kill something. It cleared up my GI symptoms (loose stools) in just 4 days. But I could barely make it through the 4 days because my anxiety and insomnia were so bad, and then I had to stop.
I'd go on it again though - just because my GI symptoms are where this all seemed to start. Others may have not had this side effect, so you may be okay on it. Good luck!

I'm on Mepron and Biaxin (same kind of drug as Zith).
I was about 15% of normal when I started, immediately I jumped up to 20-25%. I herx about every 21-24 days. Herxes put me to bed.
Now, six months later, I'm 70%, except when I'm herxing.
I also take Artemisia ... you might want to start that in a month or two, after you get used to the Mepron/Zith.
My LLMD is going for the borrelia at the same time so I'm taking Plaquenil and Amoxy/Probenecid as well. I wanted to throw that in there because that is probably contributing to my feeling better.

According to www.drugdigest.org there is mild interataction between mepron and zithromax. Mepron may make zith less effective and the doses of zithromax may need to be adjusted accordingly. The website said this is a moderate interaction and poorly documented. Hiker

Start slowly, it caused depression and hallucinations (periferal shadows) for my daughter.
Can pack a punch. By month four, it was getting deep in her tissues, and vicodin wasn't cutting the pain. Due to her autoimmune response, we had to back off.

'sithromax' probably deserves more worry than 'mepron' (atovaquone). 'malarone' is also atovaquone, with another ingredient, which is not azithromycin. For me the antimalarials were nowhere near as rude as most of the antibiotics. That includes artimesia anua, which was, by the way, extremely effective for babesia, in my case. DaveS
