Very interesting and useful information, includes interactions between abx & food, herbs and other supplements:

http://mdheal.org/healthprofessionals/pdf/lymedruginteractions.pdf

Some highlights...

Dandelion, quercetin and other supplements may interfere with quinolone absorption (levaquin, etc.)

Psyllium may decrease penicillin absorption

IV cephalosporins may decrease Vitamin K in the body

Milk thistle, Vits C & E may all decrease flagyl/tini absorption (especially milk thistle)

An animal study found that bromelain (from pineapples) increased tetracycline penetration into tissues

There's a rumor on Lyme_aid_Buhner that the retired famous Dr B found some instances of elevated liver enzymes with patients who take cats' claw along with doxycycline. It's probably true but I didnt see anything like studies, or his original recommendation in print, or anything about the number of patients this was based on, so I"m treating it cautiously for now.

Also, there are lots of posts here on Lymenet that say that artemesinin and andrographis together might cause a more serious unpleasant herx than either one alone. Some others have taken them together without this happening, however. My personal opinion is that this is also in the 'rumor' category for me, probably true though.

I NEVER had a problem taking Andrographis and Artemisinin together. However WHEN I took Artemisia annua, Andrographis AND Coptis all together, I had bigtime problems.

For the most part, as long as you stick to Buhner's recommendations in his book and in his latest CD, you will be in good shape.

It is when you stray from what HE recommends, that you can end up in trouble.

Just my experience talking here.

I was going to post to this link...

(same link as above)

Seems someone already did... in 2007. Old news. I am bumping it up because I thought some other newbies might find this as interesting as I do.

Interesting that the "animal study" only checked for increased tetracycline penetration.
I wonder if they tested doxycycline as well, or just the 1 'cycline?

My LLND recommends bromelain capsules on an empty stomach, explaining that it helps increase capillary flow by dissolving any tiny "clots" of [protein-based] material.

This, in turn, allows ANY antibiotic to "penetrate" better into all tissues... not just tetracycline.
